article in mirror 13/07/07
royal mail has been accused of hiring "polish strike breakers" to break the pay strike by workers. upto 130.000 staff began a second 24 hour walkout at 7pm last night/ insiders claimed a "bus load" of workers including a large number of poles were moved into watford mail centre yesterday afternoon. one worker said " a lot of them can hardly speak english. i dont know how they will be able to sort the mail. royal mail said temps would not be working during the strike, adding. "we are using experienced and vetted people before and after the strike".

can anyone from watford say whether this is true that they are using polish workers ? and is it happening anywhere else in the country. it is a bloody disgrace if they are.

When I went for my induction and training in Mount Pleasant there were 2 Polish guys who couldn't speak English. You'd think being fluent in English would be a prerequisite, but apparently not.

There is ment to be a £5,000 fine for each agency employee they use to cover a striking worker, so assuming a double decker with 74 seats thats £370,000 for 1 day only, god knows what chaos will be left.

today at holmfirth a scab ran into a picket with his royal mail van carried him 10 feet on the bonnet until he fell of then he drove off. the picket was going to the police when they turned up and said that the scab had reported the pickets for throwing coffee at his van. The picket had thrown coffee on the van because he was holding it when the scab hit him. At Bradford West they were threatened with the police for wearing a skeleton suit and filming each other wats that all about
I hope the police was as interested as they were in Holmfirth any comments? :pray :no no :d'oh!

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
