Best ever 'Elf n' Safety excuse

Post by waffler »

Just for fun have any of you fine people got a story of a screw doing a U-turn on an 'Elf n' Safety issue. In this weeks Work Time Lying they were complaining about plastic ties left on the floor, risk of tripping etc. fair enough. When one of the lads asked if we coud have some plastic cutters (those credit card sized ones we were all given once) we were told they won't issue them due to 'Elf n' Safety! Are scissors safer? Another one of the boys recently asked for a cycle helmet and was told we can't afford to get any due to the austerity measures. His reply 'Glad you trhink my head is so inportant'. A week later the still non working plasma screen arrived!!

MORAL-: ROYAL FAIL TAKES 'ELF N' SAFETY VERY SERIOUSLY. . . UNTIL IT COSTS MONEY OR INTERFERES WITH DOING THE JOB.

Top notch excuse mate! One of our screws had me in the office for not wearing mine last Friday when the lining got soaked. I think there's something very strange about someone who likes looking at postman's helmets!

They have to get replacements, you can refuse to go out without one issued. They also have a life span and HAVE to be replaced ( I think it is 3 years) also any cracked helmets have to be changed immediately :no no :no no :no no
I think they are crap for many reasons but RM insists so they must be issued. Regardless of cost, and any austerity measures I have known a DOM go to local bike shop and buy 1 when the order did not arrive on time.

You can blame whoever it was in the CWU who went along with Royal Mail and agreed to make them compulsory. The Cyclists Touring Club of Great Britian opposes their enforced use as they can give the user a false sense of security. They are not compulsory under the Law. This was all about Royal Mail trying to look like a caring employer and someone in the CWU going along with it.

Whole work time lying was 'elf n' safety based, also had a demo of the First Aid Room Alarm, the Bandit Alarm and the Fire, sorry I mean Industrial Action Alarm (as it went off once so we all walked out, screws though it was industrial action!) all sounded one after the other, anybody remember that Burgular Alarm/Fire Drill scene in Fawlty Towers, was just like that!! :funneh :funneh

My helmet is just fine mate. I just refused to let the screw look at it. He thinks we should show him our helmets and sign to say he's seen them. I'm worried about him. The soft sod would baffle Sigmund Freud!
