Do those who claim to manage the Royal Mail hold the people of this country in utter contempt?

I ask this question just as the postmen are committed to a series of strikes â€“ a decision they have taken reluctantly because of the appalling way they were treated by their senior management during the recent negotiations.

As if this were not enough, we learn from Post-watch that the Royal Mail â€œmayâ€

Just remember that if there are no more Saturday deliveries then RM WOULD get rid of at least 20% of the workforce

As long as we could pick who went, I wouldn't mind. All the strike breakers and idiots who tear arse around would be gone.

Getting rid of Sat deliverys is not going to happen.
Someone at a postal conference was misquoted.

I have read that Royal mail are not at this time seeking to remove saturday deliveries; HOWEVER postcom have stated that if RM were to request such a course of action.....they would not oppose the request !

if we agreed to the monday to friday delivery (nice as it sounds) we would be no better than the pair of w*****s that head royal mail, in agreeing to yet MORE job losses? many of the one sixth that would go, are standing beside us on picket lines! we would be doing leighton+croziers job for them. i thought one of the reasons we are striking was job losses? regards dongash opg macclesfield sk :cfo :lfo :cfo :lfo :cfo :lfo :lfo :cfo :lfo

Royal Mail want savings correct,lots of people want V/R correct,no saturday delivery means NO rest day covers correct
Massive savings,those who want out get V/R,those who left get Mon- Fri everybody happy

I believe it was a spokeswoman from Post comm who was delivering a seminar and when asked described the scenario of a Monday to Friday delivery when later quoted said the theory was hypothetical - however it seems the hypothetical can quite easily become the reality.

But Sat'day's the only day you catch some people in.
I'd love no Saturday deliveries. So long as it didn't impact on any other workers in Royal Fail.
Although it goes against their current mantra of wanting Saturday to be like any other normal working day. I reckon, unfortunately, it's just wishful thinking.
