BONUS SCHEMERS
Royal Mail £40m payout fury
Exclusive by Clinton Manning, Business Editor 07/07/2007

ROYAL Mail sparked fury last night for giving £40million in bonuses to managers, while postal workers head for a second 24-hour strike over pay.

About 10,000 managers will pocket amounts from £1,500 to more than £10,000. Chief executive Adam Crozier is thought to be getting £370,000.

Dave Ward, of the Communication Workers' Union, said: "If they can afford bumper bonuses for managers they can't say they haven't the cash to give postal workers a decent rise." A second strike is due on Thursday over a 2.5 per cent pay offer worth £8 a week before tax.

A Royal Mail spokesman defended the bonuses, saying: "They are only paid if targets are hit or exceeded."

Surely the targets are achieved off our backs, we are the ones who do all the work not the managers.

It can't be based on productivity if managers are getting it. Overpaid office boys!

This has now defined the battleground for us - whatever they can take from us will earn them money - make sure they don't earn any. Create more expenditure - don't go in early and if you have to do extended - claim for every minute. No more goodwill - no more missed or sacrificed meal relief's - no more using cars at your own expense - no more feeding fat cats who are only paid well because we make them look good.

Well said mate, but I reckon there are far too many planks whose noses are so far up the managers backsides to see the sense in what you are saying.
