John Hutton Mp
Got this fron the Guardian website, does he think that we are on strike cos we like it,tried to e-mail the man,but on his site it said that no complaints from outside Barrow in Furness could be dealt with,he's the man in charge of Royal Mail from the govt side
Royal Mail
Industrial action by Royal Mail workers should "end and end quickly", the business and enterprise secretary, John Hutton, insisted.
He urged staff involved in strike action to sit down and talk, as the disputes "were not in the interests" of Royal Mail.
Looks like it's gonna be a long one
If there are any posties from Barrow In Furness on here how about attending one of his surgeries,or e-mailing him :cfo
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere.

Well we are trying Mr Hutton but Royal Mail keep going to the meetings and then refuse to negotiate, they just keep re-iterating their position. Bunch of kids that they are.He urged staff involved in strike action to sit down and talk, as the disputes "were not in the interests" of Royal Mail.

Another day, another insult from Labour and Brown - how long do we need to wait before we pry their dead hands off our union policy? the unions need to break from Labour and form a new workers party, we should have done it 3 years (and £100000s) ago.
At conference the debate over the NEC trying to pull a fast one and support Alan Johnson meant that a new workers party resolution got knocked off the agenda, shame, would have been interesting to see the level of support for it - supposedly 2 years ago a disaffiliation resolution had majority support among the postal section but fell.[/url]
We don't have to wait til next year, we should be sending letters to the NEC and Vocie signed by as many workmates and fellow reps as poss to stop funding Labour immediately for the duration of the strike, escalate the action and coordinate ballots with other public sector unions - I'm going to start passing one round my DO for sure. How else can we put pressure onthe tops?
today at work people were groaning about another one dayer, they thought there was a catch or trick to it and it was more than that but sorry to say there isn't, just another bog standard 24 hour action. What was the response like elswhere?

At my DO when I told people there was a new strike they all seemed happy that we were contnuing action but they had 2 points.goinpostal wrote:today at work people were groaning about another one dayer, they thought there was a catch or trick to it and it was more than that but sorry to say there isn't, just another bog standard 24 hour action. If your day off is Friday you have not yet suffered so perhaps they should have different days for the next strike.
Why aren't we striking for longer or in a different way (ie DOs on 1 day, MCs on another, etc)

We should withdraw from funding the Labour Party full stop. We have a strike committee meeting on Monday, it will be interesting to hear others points of view. In the office at the moment many are saying as above "only one day"?TrueBlueTerrier wrote:At my DO when I told people there was a new strike they all seemed happy that we were contnuing action but they had 2 points.goinpostal wrote:today at work people were groaning about another one dayer, they thought there was a catch or trick to it and it was more than that but sorry to say there isn't, just another bog standard 24 hour action. Here`s my two cents worth.
1. By next week we will have done two day`s of strikes.
2. Are the Company worried? maybe a little, are the Government worried? maybe a little.
3. Are the public worried? maybe a little. Do they care?
4. We will be short about £100. Are we worried? some are some not! (Mr Leighton laughing at us)
5.Next strike dates: 1st week in December all MC`s out one week!
6.Next strike dates: 2nd week in December all DO`s out one week!
7.Result, everyone now worried, and trying to sort this mess OUT. (Mr Leighton not laughing at us! Now, at last he has a BLOODY BIG PROBLEM TO SORT OUT. Any views?
