The BBC reports that the FTSE broke through the 5000 barrier.
Looking forward to hearing from our trustees that due to rise in shares our pension deficit has improved and our pensions are much safer.
However if I remember correctly the trustees got out of shares after they dived and therefore we will not benefit from the rise!

FTSE up 40% in the last 3months. So I guess all our pensions and endowments and savings plans will show handsome returns

40% -
Surely 40% is way too high a climb sounds like profit grabbing going on and soon its going to plummet again. Yes sir Mr Brown we have seen the last of "Boom and Bust" haven't we.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Just one more fatal contradiction inherent in the system I'm afraid.TrueBlueTerrier wrote:BELIAL wrote:FTSE up 40% in the last 3months. So I guess all our pensions and endowments and savings plans will show handsome returns![]()

40% -I have heard of Bear Markers and Bull Markets - is this the advent of the Boomerang Market.

On the surface it does seem bizarre given the fact that international trade has collapsed; manufacturing output is spiraling down at a rate never before seen;consumer spending has nosedived;lending figures have dropped off the board, and we have just witnessed the first ever total collapse of the financial system that underpins it all.
However if you take it from the fat bastards standpoint ,and realising that the market is above all a very short term mechanism ,it makes perfect sense.
If you've got pots of wonga then you have essentially two choices ;bank it, bonds ,securities ,savings vehicles;or two gamble on the markets. Since base lending rates are at an all time low then the greedy suckers are all moving into shares ,all fully prepared for a very sharp exit into precious metals and many with the knowledge that any potential collapse will be so serious that all their losses will be made good from the public purse .They gamble and you pay them ,no lose
