Mail Down scandal

Post by the beautiful bd south »

We are forever being told that the amount of mail we are handling is on the decline?
what they tend to forget is that they have changed the way mail is recorded..
for instance we used to get credited for 320 packets in a shroud now we only get credited for 183?
same size shroud which takes same amount of time to process???
no wonder they say mail is down

Here's a thing for ya.
Biggest office in se lon had x amount of mail
Big-ish office in se lon had y amount of mail
The big-ish office had more mail than the biggest office
Seems MC's are not geting their sums right
Cooking the books come to mind
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Real amount of mail........

Post by deadbox »

A few years ago ( about 4-5 ) a manager told me that he and the DOM selected random trays of mail to count, the official figure is 250 items per tray...that was what the official figures were bases upon....10 trays = 2500 items etc. etc.

He revealed to me that none of the trays counted had less than 400 items within !

You can make the figures say anything you want to .......Just ask Alan how to !

The row we had!!

Post by L Tommo »

In my MC my old duty was MECH bag opener.. Physical and it went quickly..

We had a figure to hit everyday, Job n knock which worked AT FIRST!!!

We used to hit the figure everyday and get of early say 1 hr or more if we put our backs in to it!!

SILLY now but sometimes its all we could get.. O/T dried up before!! So one day this new screw
comes up with a civil engineer and says they last checked the twills and said to book the work for mail sort 2 and 3 at a loss
as THEY MADE A BIG MISTAKE... This Mistake was over at least 5 years we had been measuring the work.. We told em to FECK OFF!!!!
As we knew they only wanted to knock our figure down to get more work out of us!!! Our old Manager came along who went up to Shift manager
and as he knew and was a half decient bloke ran the twill thru the LSM and booked 5 more average filled twills WLA ment that 6 k for a mail sort 2 and 4.5 for a mail sort 3.. ALL TWILLS WENT OVER OR NEAR THE MARKS.. And we told the screw to feck off again!! making him and the civil engineer look pr**s!!!

We later heard that he was sent from upstairs and management wanted to stop us hitting our figures as we were getting our EP up to 90% and more!!! We never got anymore bonuses just time which then thay took away... BACKSLIDING NUMBERCRUNCHING LIES ALL ROUND.. Silly us for giving them the chance and silly for half trusting them!!!

AS POINTED OUT.. If they can juggle the figures here they can do it everywhere SO NEVER BELIEVE A THING!!!!!

OUT!!! :d'oh!

task and go (ahhh fond memories)

funny how things have changed when an office in theory had task and finish everyone seemed to get stuck in to get the job done so everyone could make a bit.
Now when your work is done you are very quickly found another job to do everyone just makes sure that they make there work last till the end of the duty......and who can blame em?

Shroud?

Is that a sleeve in a york?

We have full scale prep testing going on so the exact amount of mail for rounds being tested is known and can be compared to RM assumptions!

Are these prep tests a prelude to the introduction of the geo route reviews? That is - count the content at the same time as the test - thereby killing two birds with one stone.

The figues put forward for walking is 4.5 mph but nothing has been agreed and as far as I'm aware there#s no fixed figure for sorting either - at least a figure that has been agreed nationally.

I love the way RM work with things like this.

Me : Its s**t today boss, there's no way i can finish on time
Boss : No it isn't its easy
Me : Oh goody thanks for putting my mind at ease I will now go back to what I thought was shitloads, but is, in fact, not very much at all.
Boss : Don't go on strike.
