Hi everyone,
After decades of service to our union, our Senior Deputy General Secretary, Tony Kearns, is retiring.
Join us at 5pm today for this week’s episode of CWU Live, as we come together to recognise Tony’s significant contribution and thank him for everything he has done for the CWU. We’ll be sitting down with him for an in depth chat about his journey, his achievements, and the legacy he leaves behind.
We’ll take a look back on his early days joining the Post Office, how he first became involved with the union, and we'll discuss some of the early disputes that have stayed with him and sparked his lifelong dedication to representing colleagues and workers.
Tony has taken on many roles across the union, from serving on the Postal Executive, to his years as a National Officer, and ultimately to his current role as Senior Deputy General Secretary, helping to lead major disputes and working tirelessly to keep the union united through challenging times.
Join us at 5pm for the farewell conversation, and to help us say a proper thank you to Tony.

Hope he enjoys a well deserved an long retirement.Jefferson Starfish wrote: ↑27 Nov 2025, 16:20Whatever anybody thinks of the CWU, I'm not sure how someone retiring after 46 years in a job can be seen as deserting a sinking ship.![]()

44 views. No comments. Part of the reason for that is that outside of the insular clique that dominates the CWU no one has a clue who Tony is or what he did.

When his "journey" and his "legacy" get a mention it's time to switch off.
