It might be pocket change for a company that turns over billions, but if the company is genuinely stretched then discretionary spending like this should be questioned. There's a perception that there is always money available when it suits RM and it comes last for the people actually doing the job.
On the face of it, shareholder value is the dumbest idea in the world.
