Unionline solicitors

Post by hero22 »

Has anyone any experience of using the unionline solicitor team for making a claim ?

Or is it wiser to maybe use a private solicitor firm ?

If you are a member then no it isn't better to use a private solicitor. However claims are a percentage thing, with the focus being on percentage wins. One of the benefits of a union solicitor is that if the solicitor turns down the case you can appeal that decision through the branch and the general secretary can instruct the solicitor to pursue the case.

A mate of mine had a bona fide, couldn't lose case, that the Union sent a bloke who didn't do any prep on. Didn't even bring up any of the evidence. Lost it. :d'oh!

If you think a private solicitor would be any better...

Go private, you will have to pay around 20% to them but much better than the union one in my own experience.

They are useless. Another "" reason ? " for paying union fees. Nothing but bad experience with them.

I contacted them then got an email from a local solicitors in my area. Is that how they work, they just put you in contact with a local firm ?

I used them a couple of years ago when I got knocked off my bicycle and made a claim against the driver's insurance. There were no fees and I got a good outcome in the end but communication was really poor and I had to chase them up several times to find out what was going on.
