Second Class Saturdays
Following the recent Ofcom approval of no requirement to deliver 2nd class on Saturdays have any non pilot offices changed Saturday deliveries to reflect this. Reason I ask is we only get post once or twice a week but have had 2nd class on a couple of Saturdays without any accompanying first class or parcels after the Ofcom decision.

We’ve had no change to this effect but happy to trial it.

AFAIK parcels don't currently feed into the DTS data, I'd imagine that eventually RM will have it feed into the DTS data. SDs don't either, I'd imagine that long term RM will switch them over to using 2D barcodes which would enable them to feed into the DTS data.

As D2D are to letters, so letters will be to packets. Warm-caling all the way down!SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Aug 2025, 20:46AFAIK parcels don't currently feed into the DTS data, I'd imagine that eventually RM will have it feed into the DTS data.

Doesn't matter what you send to the DO. If its not 1st, tracked, special, it won't get delivered on a Sat.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑28 Aug 2025, 20:46AFAIK parcels don't currently feed into the DTS data, I'd imagine that eventually RM will have it feed into the DTS data. Re: Second Class Saturdays
Someone said in another thread that you'll still be delivering 2C where there's a 1C item. Why won't the 2C be delivered if a DP has got a packet, Tracked or an SD?sindba wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 18:49Doesn't matter what you send to the DO. Correct, they’ll want all ‘ consequential’ mail to be delivered to the address.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 19:34Someone said in another thread that you'll still be delivering 2C where there's a 1C item. Takes extra indoor time to sort it.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 19:34Someone said in another thread that you'll still be delivering 2C where there's a 1C item. I really don't understand when a duty is prepped but no mail is being delivered that management don't insist you take the mail where you are delivering parcels, takes an extra 5/10mins at mostsindba wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 19:45Takes extra indoor time to sort it.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 19:34Someone said in another thread that you'll still be delivering 2C where there's a 1C item. Re: Second Class Saturdays
5 to 10 mins at most? i find that v hard to believe unless maybe if you are on a permanently "do able" duty with moderate packets. I was a reserve on multiple duties (which takes time to be fluent on remembering where the addresses are on the frames).) and very recently all the frames have been changed to vertical. On average per day of around 80 tracked and 20 ish other packets…. trying to pair up all the mail with all the rest would take a lot more than 10 minutes in my scenario. Saying all that, my Do has gone beyond the point of being any type of efficient. Simply do not have any minutes to spare.A2B wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 20:01I really don't understand when a duty is prepped but no mail is being delivered that management don't insist you take the mail where you are delivering parcels, takes an extra 5/10mins at mostsindba wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 19:45Takes extra indoor time to sort it.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑29 Aug 2025, 19:34Someone said in another thread that you'll still be delivering 2C where there's a 1C item. Re: Second Class Saturdays
Ok maybe not 10mins but not much longer, the person prepping the walk gets the parcels ready for whoever is taking them so "should" be quicker at matching the mail to the packets.TopperGas wrote: ↑30 Aug 2025, 18:58
I've delivered Tracked on 4 different duties over the last couple of days and each duty has averaged50.to.60 items, to check that many addresses for mail, then attach any mail to the Tracked for that address is going to take more than 5 to.10 it it's probably 20 to 30 mins per duty, plus what do the business really gain if the following day you are delivering more mail to the same address?
What do RM gain? A clearer frame which is easier to prep the following day/s which saves prep time
