not being put on my signed walk
been working for RM for 2 years now, been signed to the same job since october 2023, however the last 6 months or maybe even more, asking to be put on the walk i’ve signed for seems like shouting down a black hole, probably been on it 10 times max since the start of the new year. is there really anything i can do, stopped doing OT/working days off in may because id had enough at that point.

Re: not being put on my signed walk
We had a re-sign earlier this year. The accompanying signs/leaflets all stated that "part time staff sign on a temporary basis only and can be moved as the needs of the business demand."
Got expressly told that due to learning all the rurals and half the firms that I was "too useful" to have a walk of my own (4 years in, 30hr contract).
We have people who've been there twice as long as I have who are bumped round the building on a daily basis... It's just numbers on a spreadsheet to management

The CWU agreed to that wording?Kenfandango wrote: ↑12 Aug 2025, 06:56We had a re-sign earlier this year. The accompanying signs/leaflets all stated that "part time staff sign on a temporary basis only and can be moved as the needs of the business demand."

Re: not being put on my signed walk
Afraid they can ask you to do whatever they want, if its a reasonable request.
Your best bet is to be as awkward as possible. Nag them every time you're moved, and get your rep to do the same.
Take your time on delivery, and when you get moved make a point of telling them you can't complete or will be claiming overtime. They'll hopefully get to point where they don't want the hassle.

Re: not being put on my signed walk
There is a guy in my Do, that when he gets moved to a different duty, takes a LOT of time bundling up ‘everything’ knowing full well he wont complete half of it, then cuts off and brings back the undelivered mail (the less nicer loops). still bundled up.
Unfortunately i sometimes get put on the same round and it pees me off because i know he has deliberately wasted time and cherry picked the easier loops leaving me with the crap.
On the flip side i also think fair play to him.
EDIT.. i’m sure there is a takeaway from this for OP.

Re: not being put on my signed walk
Make a nuisance of yourself and protest your unhappiness daily at the situation. Get the union involved.
Something similar happened to me a couple of years ago and I never said anything and just got on with it crumbling under my breath until I seriously hurt my back on a walking(heavy) town duty and was on the sick for nearly 2 months.
Now I have a doctors note explicitly explaining that I must do the duty I picked which is a rural duty with literally no pouch bag needed and I now do either my own duty I picked 90% of the time or another couple of other rural duties I know but haven’t done a town duty since.
F#ck em!!

Re: not being put on my signed walk
The service is a shambles so basically, yes, it constitutes a reasonable request in pursuit of maintaining some quality of service. Also yes, it's pissing everyone off. Unofficial advice is: don't try to clear your walk. That's as elusive on paper as the instruction to clear the Tracked.
