Parcel Force Parcels

Post by geordieboy123 »

Can anyone throw some light as to why delivery offices aligned to the Chelmsford PF depot are still delivering massive parcels which we were told was being taken on by PF in July, will it happen ?

The realignment of traffic equates to about 3 oversize items per duty.

So if you're the wrong side of the average?

I thought that was something to do with RM doing PF collections rather than PF doing our deliveries? Not I've seen any official announcement regarding tomorrow's changes?

I only acquired the knowledge from a PF driver on my route we’ve heard nothing from management whatsoever but others on here have said that it’s started in their offices and actually gave the size of parcels that PF are taking from RM. With the size of some of these parcels it’s going to be a nightmare at Xmas especially with the small vans.

A list of PF depots appeared on here somewhere and Chelmsford was scheduled to start on 7 July but when I spoke to the PF driver he said there was a backlog of of nearly 3000 parcels stacked up at the depot but he had a load of RM parcels now.

The usual criteria applies. Parcelforce are not taking every oversize item.

Also getting killed on collections now with large PF items to collect at most PO's, you sense work is just being transferred in form PF and not a lot is going the other way in exchange.

It's all going to fall apart in the autumn when collections start failing due to vans becoming full.

Happing all ready at ours . We are regularly leaving stuff as vans are full. It's pretty quiet at the moment. Goodness knows what will happen when I gets busy.

The obvious thing to do is make consumer collect a duty in itself rather than burdening the delivery staff but that’s to straight forward for Royal Mail.
