09/07/25 Mount Pleasant Bulletin

Post by jimallen »

Hi, find below the Mount Pleasant bulletin of 9 July. Thanks for your comments, they're appreciated...

VOTING NO!
Last week, the CWU officials announced "part two" of their
never-ending agreement with Kretinsky's EP Group. The
recommended 3-year pay deal starts with a real pay cut:
4.2%, when RPI inflation is 4.3%. As for years 2 and 3,
they are using the bosses' preferred CPI (!), which is
always below the real increase in prices.
Then there's their pathetic increase in Voluntary
Redundancy payments from 9 months to 12 months. Did
they really think this would have us cheering? They call
this agreement "Rebuilding Royal Mail", and say they want
to "rebuild trust"! Trust with the latest sharks out to screw
us? It's our pay and conditions that need "rebuilding".

AND NO, AGAIN!
And what about agency workers? They speak as if they
are the boss: "For the first time RM has agreed a serious
set of measures that will allow us to monitor, reduce and
replace agency workers with CWU grade workers"... Who
is "us"? There is no outright ban on agency workers.
There is no demand that recruits must be permanent and
on the same Ts&Cs from day one! Nope, the union
leaders say the boss can still use them - and abuse them -
and where possible, replace them with... overtime!

PASS THE SLEDGEHAMMER AND SOME BIG NAILS
And what about the changes in USO, which is the big
issue at the moment? We're told that the "aim is to agree
[sic] the national agreement and deployment plan by no
later than 18 July". But there is nothing there to "agree" -
we do not want these changes in USO and nobody wants
the destruction of the postal service! What will it take to
hammer this into the union leaders' heads?

MIXED-UP OFFICIALS
In fact the summary of their so-called agreement says "the
early results from the pilot offices have been mixed".
"Mixed"? What a lie! How dare they write this? There
isn't one postal worker who thinks these pilot-trials are
even slightly successful!

WE DIDN'T EVEN LIKE THE "ORIGINAL"...
But it doesn't end there... union officials tell us this is a
"no-strings" agreement. Yet Martin Walsh wrote on Royal
Mail chat that there'll be at least 6 strings that we will have
to vote "yes or no" to, one by one! Apparently these cover
the "equalisation of new entrants pay, terms and
conditions in incremental steps", "a review of SA and
overtime", "an improved sick pay agreement", the "USO
agreement", etc., etc., etc.?! And this is only part two of a
series which looks like it's going to have more spin-offs,
sequels (and pre-quels?!) than Star Wars!

PAY RISE NEEDED NOW!
Us cleaners with RM-PFS, have heard nothing about our
pay offer! Were union officials so busy concocting their
"Destruction of postal workers' conditions part 2" that they
couldn't spare a thought for the lowest paid section in RM?
We're on £13.15/hr (in London) and the only thing we're
told is that there was "some initial tentative discussion
with the company" - but apparently so "tentative" that
nothing happened!

TIME FOR A GO-SLOW!
An ambulance was called on site last week on Nights for
one of our workmates who fainted at work - we hope he's
okay! He happened to be a senior workmate, but
regardless of seniority, there is not a single area in the
Mount which is not exhausting nowadays, no matter how
"junior" you may be. This could happen to any one of us.

CAN'T DO, WON'T DO
By the way, when there are late distribution arrivals,
manual parcel sorting gets impossible and the machine
can't cope! Managers completely changed the bullring
area when the Parcel Sorting Monster was installed,
saying it would ease the workload... but of course it
hasn't! And now they expect us to sort all these parcels
manually? Not a chance!

FED UP WITH ROBIN ALREADY
This new "Robin" app is getting on our nerves! In order to
access it, it asks us to login on the previous "People's"
app and get information from there... And after we've
done it? Most of us still can't login! The problem is there's
nobody who's responsible for access to our records,
payslips, pensions, VR applications, etc., anywhere in the
Mount any more; nor even in London! What are we
supposed to do? Ask "a friend" to hack the system?

TOO CLEAN FOR MANAGEMENT!
Cleaners were expected to "huddle" with management a
couple of weeks ago. And other than the petty "don't
leave a second too early" crap, we were also warned not
to clean the place so well. Yep, apparently we need to cut
back on the amount of chemicals and cleaning fluid we
use, because it runs out by the weekend... So if things
start smelling less than fresh round here, that's the
reason!

SECOND CHEF WANTED!
We had a few good nights at the canteen, because there
was a chef and someone at the till to run it. But this only
happens when the usual single canteen workmate is off!
What we want is for a chef to be permanently present on
Nights - that's when we most need decent, warm food!

GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!
Apparently top management is in less need of JV6&½
actors at the Mount and wants them back in uniform... to
be replaced with real managers this time! In fact, one has
just appeared on Tracks recently! And of course, more
managers and fewer workers is going to "help" clear the
workload - everybody knows that...

Funny how international socialism is allegedly all for the rights of the down-trodden poor, unless they're Ukrainians, who apparently have to accept annexation by Russia whether they want it or not.
"Any sane person" allegedly would be able to see this.
Left Wing nonsense on show again.

My ex wife's (Ukrainian) best friend, husband and 1 year old daughter were killed by Ukrainian military in 2014 on unoccupied Ukrainian soil.
I lived in Ukraine and understood at a local level what was going on.
You're a prick who thinks the BBC tell you the truth.

A three day campaign that's lasted over three years and counting, a conflict reduced to trench warfare and has cost $trillions plus hundreds of thousands of lives and lead to Russia being a pariah state, and the realisation that the so-called "second best army in the world" is actually very much a fourth rate army who can't overwhelm it's much smaller unprepared neighbour even with the help of Cuban and North Korean mercenaries?
I guess that gotta really sting, eh Oleg?
Yeah OK, it's all down to the BBC.

What is your point? Other than hating the BBC and the Ukraine military?
I lived in Birmingham in 2005 and understood at a local level what was going on, my ex wife also lived in Birmingham on unoccupied English soil.

Just like the Israeli-Palestinian conflict started on October 7th 2023 the Russia-Ukraine conflict started on February 24th 2022 silly.

Could his point be that this war didn’t start on 24th of February 2022 like the western corporate msm and western governments would have you believe?

A three day campaign that Putin personally stated in the early news conferences?
The Russia whose trading possibilities grow weekly less and less, and whose leader can't travel abroad other than to other pariah states?
Yep, that pariah state.

How much Russian propaganda can you absorb?

You got a link for this news conference?

Hate to be the one that has to break this to you but the “western world” isn’t the whole world as there’s china, India, Africa and South America etc or in other words BRICS.
