Congratulations Mcs & RM

Post by GRS »

So yet again on the shortest day of the week these two complete arsecakes manage to completely cock up DOs to ensure that a new week will start with us on the back foot. Yep let’s release all the mail we’ve been holding for F**k knows how many days on a Saturday!!!! So I walked in to 2 completely rammed trays for the only day this week, by the time prep & IPS was done and I got out only 4 hours to deliver on a walk that takes a minimum of 5 hours meaning that loads came back. Seems likely that I’m going across 2 duties on Monday so no mail will be going out so by the time customers receive it on Tuesday RM will have been in possession of it for 7 days. Amazingly as I was prepping it I knew that I had been to most of the houses during this last week (because the D2D had gone)with either manually sorted mail or packets yet this dim arsed system they’re using doesn’t recognise that. As I said what complete and utter arse cakes!!!!

Here's yet another reminder of how the DTS system works as it seems it hasn't sunk in yet for some people. :cuppa

When the outward mail is being run through iLSMs and IMPs, the system makes a list of every DP that has got a 1C item. That list is divided up into batches, the CSS machines are sent that data. When we run the batches, for any DP that has a 1C item, ALL mail for that DP is released. If a DP has any 2C that has hit the 5 day limit, ALL mail for that DP is released. if there's no 1C for a DP or 2C that has hit the 5 day limit then any 2C for that DP gets deferred.

The system goes by CALENDER DAYS, not working days.

The system doesn't currently take into account any packets, though I suspect that it eventually will do.

Thursday night some batches were getting 2/3s maybe a little more of the mail deferred.

It's not our problem if the system decides to release a shitload of mail, we just sequence whatever the system has decided to release.

btw you're also calling staff in DOs "arsecakes" as some CSS machines are based in DOs (which are classed as MPUs).

This has happened every Saturday for ages, and it will get worse, because on the new USO, it'll get shoved into the next week!

Once again you completey miss the point, as the OP has already said, houses have already had mail during the week, and yet some get 7 letters on Saturday, same happened to me. DTS isn't fit for purpose.

Them houses have not had any 1C or any 2C hitting the 5 day limit, on the Friday night there's either been a load of 1C or a load of 2C has hit the 5 day limit, it's as simple as that. There's nothing wrong with the DTS, it cuts down on the call rate for mech letters over the course of a week, just as it's designed to.

Wrong again, they've already had mail during the week, and yet we are getting loads on a Saturday, it's a failure.

If they've already had mail, it's irrelevant. If there's no 1C or 2C that's hit the 5 day limit, the mail gets held. Once again, it goes by CALENDER days, not working days. If the day limit would have it released for a Sunday, the system will be releasing it on the Friday to keep it within spec.

So it doesn't cut the call rate, as you've just admitted.

Isn't there DSA Economy (five days) and DSA Standard (two days)? Would this help explain it?

Yep. We can't tell which one a DSA letter is as they're never marked up which of the two has been used. There will soon be a DSA Premium product which AFAIK will be next day.

If 50% of the mech mail is being held by the DTS, that's a lot less DPs that will be getting mech mail, therefore a lower call rate. Packets, SDs, Tracked, manual letters and flats don't feed into the DTS data.
