Mine has been messed around with, says 78.02 hours for 2 weeks off in October, not 74. And another week off says 39.01 . WTF is going off

depends on your planned day off those weeks assuming you're on a rota day off, i can plan a week off and only use 32hrs, if you book 2wks when it would be wed then thur off it will take more hours off,
also have they factored in seasonal variations that have now stopped but the system don't know?

Thanks, but I have a fixed day off. The system has changed the figures recently, it did say 74 and 37 hours…

If you click on the particular leave entry within the People app, in the top-right hand corner it will say “Created on: xx June 2025” or whatever. This will tell you when it has been altered. Mine have also been changed (unbeknown to me) by our bookroom PHG.

Mine were altered, supposedly, to take account of seasonal variation — even though, (i) I have never done SV hours, sticking to 40 hours/week all year round; and (ii) SV isn’t even happening this year. Yours might be for a similar reason? Good luck in getting to the bottom of it :-)

I think you're correct with that advice, just out of interest and to confirm did yours show a straight 40 for any holiday you had booked within the planned sv period for this year or did it show 38 ?

The sv period was from w/c 14th July for six weeks iirc.

So for a week off in May 2025 I did use exactly 40 hours, but for a week in July 2025 I am using 38 hours, and for a week in November 2025 I am using 42 hours — even when SV isn’t happening this year. Yes, it does round itself off so I am still using 120 hours for three weeks’ leave, but it should just be a straight 40 hours.

Ah so that confirms they're applying whatever was appropriate if sv was in place.

I’ve contacted HR about this and they have said if your contracted for 37 hours a week your leave is 37 hours I’ve been with Royal Mail for over 20 years and they have also said 6 x 37 hours =222 hours 6 full weeks leave !! If your off sick on bereavement leave or paternity leave/maternity leave it’s paid as 37 hours it doesn’t take into consideration what your day off is when this happens !!!
