It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

They shouldn't be giving us lapse to do in this heat but they do. And ask us to take extra due to uncovered duties. At least some of us told them to get stuffed. The new contracts don't dare.

Glad we have the new vans with aircon. Would not have survived in the old Doblo.

you are a lucky one mate we don't have any vehicles with aircon in our fleet  it's like they don't care.

Out at 14.30 today on DPR my portable thermometer showed 45C in the back of the van.

Honestly felt like sticking your head in a oven.

We've had some 25 plate vans turn up on a transporter, get taken into the workshop then sent off to another unit. We occassionally get the sloppy seconds from other units when they get new vans, though we're still using 10 plate vauxhall combos on some duties.

We also had a water main burst near the office meaning we had no water or flushing toilets on the hottest day this year. Manager rushed out to buy bottled water as the watercooler is mains fed.

What's the deal with being expected to complete a full delivery while third trimester pregnant in a heatwave when it's 28/29 degrees outside and god's only knows how hot inside the van with no Aircon and no breeze?

How are we expected to do this? What should be happening?
Without going sick and being forced onto maternity leave early?
