EP Group tear up Dave Ward's groundbreaking agreement
URGENT MEMBERS UPDATE: USO REFORM
Colleague’s,
We were made aware by Royal Mail at the end of last week that they intended to press ahead with pre work within units in preparation for the potentially of any full roll out. There was a joint statement agreed earlier this year which referenced a 12 part process that would govern any potential prework, but this has not yet been agreed Nationally.
Part of the prework includes a “Launch Meeting” within units where Royal Mail will explain the process, inform you of implementation dates and give an overview of what USO reform is, there intention is do to this this week without any agreement with the CWU Locally, Divisionally or Nationally.
As you will be aware the current proposed USO reform will only be agreed by the CWU as part of the discussions around Section 5 of the EP/CWU agreement, which have not as yet been agreed. We believe that plans to roll out USO reform so soon, whilst we are still understanding the impact from the Pilot sites may not be in the best interests of our members, but ultimately this will be a matter for National agreement and until such time that we have that, we, in the North East Division will not be engaging in any “pre-work” and we would encourage you to do the same.
We have registered our objections to Royal Mail and requested that they hold off on this action, however, we have had confirmation that they intend to “carry on regardless”, which is why we have called this meeting today to fully explain our position on this matter.
We have heard for many months now of a change in relationship within Royal Mail, however, this move seeks to undermine this over an issue which could see the largest change in deliveries for over 60yrs.
Should any National Agreement be reached, we will of course then amend our position, but we cannot be part of a process which has the potential to impact so severely on our members without a proper Nationally Agreed process.
We hope you understand our position and support us by not engaging with Royal Mail on this at this time.

Re: EP Group tear up Dave Ward's groundbreaking agreement
Well done North east division, all divisions should pull cooperation regarding the USO reform. Unfortunately this action should have been issued by the PEC but with the clown show that seems to be going on at CWU headquarters it’s up to local/area representatives to inform their divisional representatives that they will no longer take part in this process.
CWU DGS/PEC and divisional representatives seem to be incompetent and completely out of their depth.

Any one else wondering how many more times the union are going to fall for this? How many is it now?

They're just desperate to appear relevant. Ward and co. have broken the trust of the members

Re: EP Group tear up Dave Ward's groundbreaking agreement
Who would have guessed a billionaire wouldn’t want to work alongside a trade union?! The naivety of Ward and his gang knows no bounds.
In all seriousness though wasnt the uso change the only bargaining chip the union had whilst trying to get an agreement? If Royal Mail are just gunna plough ahead with the change then it makes you wonder just how bad the eventual agreement will be that Dave and Martin are going to roll out to us. You couldn’t make this stuff up.

So where's Walsh now? All the CWU loyalists? The CWU live went out attacking this forum despite Ward and Walsh knowing that the north east division were in dispute over the application of the agreement. Get the postal executive out.
