Hold or Sell?
Hey everyone,
As you might know, Royal Mail is currently facing a takeover offer. The offer is priced at 360p per share and includes commitments to maintain services and protect employment rights. However, there's also the possibility of the company getting delisted if the takeover goes through.
I'm trying to decide (even if that decision may be made for me) whether to hold onto my shares or accept and sell them before the potential delisting.
Are you planning to hold or sell your Royal Mail shares?

Re: Hold or Sell?
Thanks, Sean. Edited my post. I was also calculating the final dividend and the special dividend.

Re: Hold or Sell?
Considering the potential lack of dividends and difficulty in selling the shares, I'll be voting for the takeover.

I don't care if they become worthless - it's the principle. Hold.

Re: Hold or Sell?
It’s a sell for me, its irrelevant what postal workers think TBH as we only hold circa 5%, if I decide I don’t like my job going forward I’ll do what thousands of our colleagues have done and get another job.

Re: Hold or Sell?
I find the question a bit misleading - do you mean are we planning to sell before the potential sale in which case you’d get a guaranteed £3.20 ish a share (or whatever it is) albeit with deductions for tax…..or do you mean are we planning to accept the share offer which would be £3.70 a share with minimal deductions but there’s a chance it won’t go through in which case the share price would drop well below £3.20.
If I had to bet, then I’d say there’s a 30% chance the deal will fall through. Like Mr Eastwood once said, feeling lucky punk?
As for me, I’ve already voted to accept the deal.
*long post alert, sorry, time to get a few things off my chest.*
All I’ve witnessed at RM is selfish behaviour amongst colleagues, yes there’s a few good eggs but 9 out of 10 of us would do everything possible to offload work, some would even sell their own grandmother for an extra fiver.
When I was part time I’ve seen colleagues putting their own parcels on my york because I don’t start for another hour (I live out in the sticks and at the time relied on bus which got me there too early so I was able to watch what happened). Those colleagues knew by the time I get to the parcels they are already out on the street so my manager will tell me to do them on the way.
I’ve taken specials for people who needed to be done on time, when I asked for a favour in return they turned their shoulder.
I’ve had seriously petty duty holders save 16.6% of D2Ds for me to prep and deliver on a Saturday because ‘it’s only fair I do my share.’
I rarely do the cover duties I’m meant to do because the duty holders work their days off.
I rarely get a share of Christmas tips from those whose rounds I’ve consistently covered.
Well if you can’t beat them join them, I leave in 2 months and I’d selfishly quite like a little payday even though hand on my heart I think DK taking over would be disastrous. But then I don’t see much of a future for RM regardless of ownership.
