Way forward mail centre question
Question to whom ever can answer this please. Regarding the forcing of realignment/ revision in a large mail centre.
If you already perform a 4 day duty in a particular area. And your area/ hours are part of the car crash revision and you fall out of the flow through and some other area as had there hours days changed for a 5 day duty to a 4 day duty. Is it in the way forward that staff who already perform a 4 day attendance get preferences.?
Long winded I know.

Re: Way forward mail centre question
Not a mail centre employee but I think the only preferences were for people who got allowances they couldn't just take away, I don't know if that extends to night shift or whatever machine operator allowance some of you guys get, afaik days of attendance won't be protected in any way as on delivery there's a few posts on here saying they want rid of 9 day fortnight's etc and all on a 5 day rotation day off

Hi Grumpy, the way I read it, but don't quote me on it , is that if you have had your duty ripped away from you, like a lot of us , you can sign for anything you like as long as it vacant. Therefore it's only duties left that aren't taken from follow through (sic) , so you're left with all the crap ( including weekends ) . In our office , like most others, it's senior people who have been shat on the most, 40+ year's of service for what? Good luck, hope this helps you but as far as I can tell any previous agreements have been rolled up and shoved up our a**es . I'm a tad angry
so may be wrong, it's just my understanding.

Re: Way forward mail centre question
I read it as only cr@p jobs will be left to choose from.
Your seniority will give you the ability to choose the best cr@p job so it's not much of a choice really.

And of course managers are such fair minded people with high levels of integrity who always ensure fairness without any show favouritism.

Re: Way forward mail centre question
most if not all,318's ,if you can find a copy of it had 'or as directed ,at the bottom, meaning management could move people around if work areas ran out of work ,or if people were needed in other areas ,( due to more work ,or slow workforce).
we will have a start time and finish time ,if we have to que up at manages desk ( and wait till they show up) to find out where they want us to work then that's going to slow every thing down .then if a certain work area fails that's down to management not us .

Also there's an argument that can be made about "why is it always the same people that are asked to move to different work areas, why do you seem to pick on the same people and leave others alone?"denhamhoop wrote: ↑06 Feb 2023, 18:30It actually quotes can be moved to elsewhere as directed under exceptional circumstances as it's every shift that's hardly exceptional circumstances is it
With no contract stating your defined work area and duties you are at the mercy of the managers whims and like I said before although managers are of incredibly high calibre, with great levels of integrity with very thorough training in fairness and equality they can still make mistakes as they are human after all.

Re: Way forward mail centre question
Our realignment seems to be powering ahead. Anyone on a modified duty ie full time but over 4 days and all part timers are affected. On nights the only part time duties seem to be either include weekends or are holiday cover. Even those people with duties that seem to flow through haven’t got a clue what’s going to happen either.
It’s not a resign or repick we are going to be told what duty is available to us
Goes live in March.

Re: Way forward mail centre question
This has been issued by CWU at one MC:
‘Management have produced a duty set which is totally unacceptable. CWU at <snip> has not had the opportunity to negotiate. The intention is to implement the revision by executive action. Although the base hours would be similar to the current structure, the intention is to remove somewhere between 50-70 fulltime duties. AG,s would fill the remaining hours, leaving <snip> mainly a part time workforce. All duties would become mainly 5 days.
The Plant Manager informs …. that it is still not known how many VR, will be allocated to <snip> Mail Centre Processing staff. It has been confirmed that there will be no compulsory redundancies.
There is still no National Agreement on Revisions/Re-alignments, despite the fact that meetings have taken place since 9/1/23.
Given all of the above, CWU at <snip> have issued a Stage 2 Disagreement as it feels that our members, particularly if you are fulltime would be severely disadvantaged’
