Re: Reason for resignation
Unless something has changed, if you leave aged 60+ your deemed to be retiring and so are a good/tax efficient leaver.
Although that will only apply to any shares you've bought via the P&M scheme, as all your free shares have been held for over 5 years anyway and are yours to do what you want with.

Thank you for the reply Robert I rang the shares helpline and an automated message informed me they would write to me in due course. I hope the rules have not changed.

Good answer, wasnt sure if you'd be retiring or handing your notice in (60+) Two different escape routes from Colditz. Makes it easier to make a decision so long as your many RM pensions arent affected.

From personal experience, even if you have paid the full 45 years pension but not reached 65, you are 'resigned not retired'.

Re: Reason for resignation
There ceased to be a compulsory retirement age in 2011. Now we can work as long as we want to, and therefore we have to resign when we leave employment.geoff195305 wrote: ↑15 Feb 2023, 13:22From personal experience, even if you have paid the full 45 years pension but not reached 65, you are 'resigned not retired'.
But in the case of RM shares held in the SIP, either free ones or those via the P&M scheme. Leaving RM at age 60+ is regarded as retiring and that makes you a good/tax efficient leaver, and no tax will be payable.
