Urgent all MC staff*****
Dear all,
You must now understand the seriousness of the supernumerary/surplus of staff in mail centres after recent communications. There is a redeployment team currently visiting mail centres to try and address surplus staff. It is firmly believed that Royal Mail may try and break the ‘Business Recovery, Transformation & Growth 2023 agreement and re look at current members duties which colleagues have only recently been allocated in order to make more cuts/re-deployment - effectively making new duty holders supernumeraries with the intention of moving/forcing them into delivery offices who are very short staffed due to royal mails own mismanagement.
It is essential that you report to your senior CWU representative/or Branch so they record and report the following:
(i) any managers who are regularly working on any shift;
(ii) any casuals who are in when staff have applied for overtime;
(iii) any breaches of health and safety to skip corners and make it seem like the work is getting done within normal business hours;
(iv) any casuals or managers working on machinery they are not trained for;
(v) Any agency staff being giving training opportunities without staff being offered these opportunities as well;
(vi) Any 1st Class mail/letter not being deployed on time i.e. not meeting USO requirements
Lastly, it has been noted throughout Royal Mail that local managers have recently given duties to individuals without it being advertised within local offices therefore not allowing a fair process to take place this must be reported as local management have no right to act unilaterally…so it can be reported when meeting with senior Royal Mail management to demonstrate/evidence what is occurring on ground level.
Please ensure you forward to this message on to all your colleagues so everyone is aware!

Re: Urgent all MC staff*****
Let's see on my shift at my MC what do we do about i) Managers actually working in the area where our Union Rep works so would like to think they would know about this practice ii) Every night Casuals starting an hour or two depending on shift start time ahead of Posties on overtime yet again with the aforesaid Night Shift CWU Rep iii) Does trucking more than one York at a time count in this because well it's become more or less common practice iv) This one doesn't actually apply because the Managers and Casuals have been trained on the machines v) See previous answer Managers and Casuals trained on all machines whilst staff still remain untrained but do we report as this doesn't happen anymore because it's happened for the last 3 years previously vi) No idea as all work is lobbed in together 1st/2nd Mailsort/DSA but this is probably a no as it's usual a clear office by the end of shift . The biggest problem is other than the totally incompetent Night Rep and his deputy(A failed Manager so guess what his views are on most things) I have personally seen our Area Rep/Branch Chairman once in 10 years even though he does receive Night Shift Allowance whilst doing his 8 to 4 duty

manchester romford and home counties are the first ones where these redeployment teams are visiting, they are basically forcing people on to other shifts or on to delivery,

Well, you get what you vote for, unfortunately.
When and if you end up on delivery, remember how you voted. You may just be about to pick up the s**t end of the stick.

70% voted Yes so must have been 1 or 2 Delivery voting for the deal as Deliveries far outnumber Mail Centres I do have a question what happens if you get moved after the 39 hour period and you have only been doing 37 hour weeks when the Delivery Office goes down to 35 hours.
