What if ........
....... the CWU being allowed to
a/ stay in the workplace and have a voice
b/ still having members paid for activity release
c/ still being able to deduct subs from the payroll
is dependent on a yes vote being returned on the negotiated agreement???????????????
Speculation is what arises in questioning minds when there is an absence of convincing information or comment from authorities.

Re: What if ........
Would sound like Royal Mail owns the CWU, and that the CWU would be in Royal Mail's debt, and that we would be f****d, as a result.

Re: What if ........
Does anyone have any idea what is going on and what we can expect next ? Never known anything like this in over 30 years service , genuinely don’t know where we go from here .

Re: What if ........
That's why I posted this - in the absence of a GOOD and CONVINCING reason for delaying the ballot [and I'm not convinced by the Union's reasoning] then what else is there?
We have already seen dozens of posts suggesting that the Union will only allow us to vote when they are sure it'll be a 'yes' vote. Now I am just taking that one step further and hypothesising why that might be.

Re: What if ........
The reasons you quote were swirling around my office for why the union agreed such a poor agreement, so there’s probably a lot of truth in it .stevejm wrote: ↑08 Jun 2023, 17:27....... the CWU being allowed to

I think this could backfire on the union big time, they don’t seem to realise how fed up and frustrated the membership arestevejm wrote: ↑08 Jun 2023, 17:46That's why I posted this - in the absence of a GOOD and CONVINCING reason for delaying the ballot [and I'm not convinced by the Union's reasoning] then what else is there?

Re: What if ........
I agree, this is going to backfire on the union, seems to me, that they are only interested in saving their own jobs. It’s shocking that they don’t provide any information on where we are. What are they waiting for?, get the ballot out, either it gets through and we get 6% wage increase, or we vote no, this stalemate isn’t working.Royal Mail are just pressing ahead with the revisions, we aren’t going to change that, we get all the pain and no reward at all

Re: What if ........
One of the things that decided me to leave RM was when I spoke to my rep about the progress of negotiations, and he told me that the most important outcome for him was that the Union should remain in the workplace and continue to represent its members. I'm sure he sincerely believed that, but I thought he was deluded if the thought that would be the thing that would satisfy most of the people who were taking industrial action. I realised then that there were no good outcomes for me, and that if the union gave way just for this, it might save their own skins, but it wasn't much use to anyone else.

Re: What if ........
Do you condone the delay of the ballot? Do you think the reasons the Union give for delaying the ballot are valid? Would you care to predict which month we finally get to vote on the agreement?
Back in April early May I would have put money on us voting in June. Now I'm not so sure about that. Now I think July. Ask me again in 2 weeks and I'll be telling you August.
Is this acceptable to you Mr. Rumple? ?

Re: What if ........
Doesn't mean jack s**t currently despite the claims that the workplace can't progress without the CWU in their little release of the agreement at the beginning. Company seems to be doing fine with whatever the hell they want behind their backs whilst giving the CWU the run around, whispering sweet nothings in their ears.

Re: What if ........
RM threatend to take a,b,c away a couple of months ago hence the collapse of the cwu and accepting a deal they previously said wasn't good enough .stevejm wrote: ↑08 Jun 2023, 17:27....... the CWU being allowed to

I was told this by area and pec members that RM wanted to destroy the cwu in RM .
I have no idea if this is all balanced on a yes vote ..if it is then we need a new union because it turns the Cwu into a workers association that just nods things through .we need a union to protect our t&C's not one that sells it's members out to keep themselves in the workplace .
Still voting no .
