Re: Van idling
The van idling is highlighted by the Trimble isn't it?
I've worked with people who seem pathologically unable to ever turn the engine off. It must cost the business a fortune.

The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

Re: Van idling
Just turn the engine off, no need to keep it running. Don’t get the logic of this, the only time it should be kept running is for if it’s cold and you are on your break.

Re: Van idling
If you are idling that much, you are leaving the van running while it is unoccupied. People should be being pulled up on it. Cutting corners like this is why rounds are made bigger. Do the job properly.

Re: Van idling
Exactly this, it can only be people looking for confrontation, turn the van off every time u stop unless it’s a quick in and out for a roadside box

Re: Van idling
In fact if you want to beat them at their own game, report every shitty van fault, and do zero minor repairs. Bulbs tyres, wipers, windows not working, van not locking, impact sensors going off, broken seats, no heater or fan, dirty van, PMT and let it sit (this should be a union tactic)

Re: Van idling
Why is a postie doing any of the above.heraldmoth wrote: ↑25 Feb 2023, 20:39In fact if you want to beat them at their own game, report every shitty van fault, and do zero minor repairs. Re: Van idling
It's almost spring, I'd understand if the reason is to warm up the van but temperature aren't that cold. There no reason to leave the engine running
Turn off the engine and have a break if you are doing that.

Re: Van idling
If you mean report issues that are not roadworthy then should be doing that in the first place? I really do not get posties that say "oh I'm just going to the do the job properly now" AFTER things are not going their way. Absolutely daft when should be doing that s**t in the first place instead of driving a pile of s**t around and letting repairs pile up and putting yourself at risk.heraldmoth wrote: ↑25 Feb 2023, 20:39In fact if you want to beat them at their own game, report every shitty van fault, and do zero minor repairs. Re: Van idling
All depends if you have a mechanic on site. Most ppl fill out a pmt and take a van (in my opinion) that’s not road worthy out to get the job done. as usual on here we get an opinion from someone who says “do the job right” when they’re probably sitting on a handbag run

Re: Van idling
That’s a new one. Makes a change from the usual ‘must be a manager’ cobblers.heraldmoth wrote: ↑26 Feb 2023, 07:40All depends if you have a mechanic on site. There is no such thing as a ‘handbag run’ any more. You work your hours and go home. Or you should. Which is why people bang on about ‘doing the job properly’ as otherwise, you are filling your day with unnecessary extra work. Why leave a van idling?
