Reading a lot saying they aren't going back in just curious as to if RM can conjur any comebacks to those that don't.

I get that, with the nature of strikes there is always a chance we go back. Say an agreement was reached today (Thursday) we'd have all had to return to work Friday, why anyone would make other plans I don't know

RM have said staff can take unpaid leave on Friday due to nature of situation without any comeback, which is ridiculous really (personally think we should still be out)

Is that info put out somewhere? As I say I am unfamiliar with how all this works and seems very chaotic, granted its not every day something like this happens. Just seeing a lot of mixed messages some adamant they're off others are in. Expecting a lot of frantic phone calls in the morning!

What business is it of yours what other people's plans are? It's very rare we postie's get much time with our families as it is so if someone plans something during a strike it's none of your business

As the official stance yesterday was talks had completely broken down chance of a full-on resolution being reached Thursday was precisely zero.

CWU call off planned industrial action on Friday 9 September 2022

We have received and welcome the notification from CWU that they will be calling off planned strike action tomorrow, Friday 9 September following the sad passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

In light of this, tomorrow will be a normal working day at Royal Mail, and so staff should return to work as usual. Any strike-related pay deductions already made will be rectified. We understand that some people may be unable to attend work tomorrow at short notice so we would like to clarify that no disciplinary action will be taken, but it will be treated as unpaid leave.

We recognise that this is an emotional time, and we ask that managers and colleagues are mindful of this and support one another.
This is a momentous occasion in UK history, and over the coming days and weeks Royal Mail will be relied upon to deliver important messages of condolence from all around the world to the Royal family.

Ahead of this, we need to focus on recovering services tomorrow and over the coming days. We would therefore very much welcome it if non-operational managers who were due to support the operation tomorrow can continue to as planned.

Lots of folk at my DO haven't been paid correctly this week and have had money deducted when they shouldn't have.

A majority aren't going to be in today for that reason.

As an office we're fed up of piss poor management.

Some of us find it very tricky to juggle childcare when you are one of 2 working parents, so having a bit of respite in terms of drop offs and pick ups and then planning around that, only for the situation to change last minute, has made it not worth the stress to rearrange it all.
