I've said elsewhere I don't think they've even thought about how they're going to apply annualised hours to any other part of the business - I honestly don't think it will work anywhere else.

What hours are they going to stop us working in CS to build up a bank of hours for winter? It's busy essentially every single day due to years of understaffing - hell even now at what's supposed to be the 'quiet' part of the year the phones have lengthy queues every day.

I suspect what will happen is they'll plan a 'phased rollout' - bring it in for deliveries, then come out with some BS statement of 'it's just not workable for any other part of the business, but we'll keep it for deliveries'

And how’s it going to work in deliveries? We are pushed beyond the limit every day. It’s not like a few years ago when you had quiet days and busy days. Probably count comfortable days for a year on one hand. What everyone else in the business doesn’t realise including the top bosses is that every glitch, every hold up and every cock up each day impacts at the final stop of the business…….THE DELIVERY OFFICE!!!!! By the time the mail reaches a DO all these glitches have snowballed into a massive clusterfuck!

Yes it will. Same as deliveries.

Your manager will determine how long your work *should* take, and you have to complete that work.

How long it actually takes it irrelevant.

You stay out and complete, every day, no ifs no buts.

You "bank" however many hours your manager allows you to bank, and you claim it back whenever your manager says you can.

It is compulsory unpaid overtime, and it is THE worst aspect to all this

The CWU need to get better at communicating this, because people still aren't getting it.

Indeed, RM cant have part of the workforce doing a 7.5hr shift and another part of the workforce doing a however long it takes shift

Don't sound so hard done by SP :Boo hoo!

Most Posties are going "Beyond the Wire" every single working day, I'd love to work to the "Official" finishing time and when the bell rang bugger off home ... :cuppa

To be fair if you really want to go home at the official finish time you can, at the moment at least

I agree GRS every problem in the pipeline does end up costing the Postie on the Ground time.

You'd think the Business would be trying to support him, but every department in RM is busy fighting it's own corner and not worrying about the end result, which is surely to get the Mail to the Customer in the quickest, and most efficient way? :hmmmm

On the point of actually claiming Pressure OT every day the Area Del Rep raised a worrying point the other day. I mentioned, "They can try and Bank Hours if they like but I go over nearly every day". He explained, "What RM could do is say ... You're owed X ammount of hours OT, I'm not going to pay you take a day off"!

They'd probably end up asking you to come in on your day off because we're always short staffed but it's a worrying development. :cuppa

For all we know 'the changes we need' are just all made up and a delay tactic so that they can crash the share price and get a buyer in before ripping the company apart.

the 'performance bonus scheme' doesn't even have any rules/targets. It's hollow. It's made up. The CWU asked them about it face to face and Royal Mail had nothing to say about how it will work.

working later doesn't make sense to me because we'd be working in the dark in winter and we'd be working in school-run traffic and rush hour traffic. I was stuck for 30 minutes the other day due to school-run traffic.

the company hasn't come back to us with a better offer even though it's obvious the workers are not going to change their minds about this situation.

it's all leading to a P&O type situation which is very risky for Royal Mail to do with 115,000 staff, a constant flow of letters and parcels coming through the system, the company finds it hard to recruit and retain staff as it is. If they forced us to sign a new contract and 30% of the staff didn't sign it - then they'd be in a complete mess. After that first 30% leaves, then a large amount of staff that signed the contract would gradually follow them out the door as they hate the new way of working.

You don't have any deadlines in DOs. In MCs finish times are based on when the final dispatch is

If it's unlikely to work then why will it lead to a PO situation? I've no idea what ST is hoping to achieve as it seems pretty clear RM staff are prepared to keep on striking if no better deal is offered, if RM can pay a 2% bonus (in theory anyway) why don't they just offer a straight 5.5% pay rise to put some pressure on the union to settle the dispute.
