What an absolute mess. And yet I no longer think they are trying to scare us by suggesting really poor changes then giving us something not as bad - it looks and sounds like they are genuinely serious now.

My manager can’t even work out that it’s Bob’s day off today and he’s already told him he’s not working it and it’s 9am and stuff is stacked all round his frame. There’s not a single chance they can manage this, even with PDA help.

Ha I'm 64 no early finish any day, so there won't be any "banked hours" where would people like myself stand where hours and hours are gained on each working week, whether it be summer or or winter , tell me where I would stand please Ricky. What's your plan for me and many nany people like me.

Surely overtime is optional under this bizarre and totally biased towards Royal Mail system once you’ve banked too many hours overtime is forced on you. I’ve not booked a minutes overtime for 10 years and I’m not about to start.

If this ever gets agreed we are all going to need spreadsheets. It's bad enough now with mistakes on overtime not getting paid but now we are going to have to record what we worked, what we banked, what's being paid as overtime )once the maximum banked hours has been reached) and how many have been used in the winter for example, what a nightmare . I see someone has suggested we could access the hours within the app but I for one won't be trusting that on it's own!
Most of us in our office work upto and over everyday including in the so called off peak summer so won't get hours to bank for the winter unless of course it's one of the rural rounds who seem to be done by lunchtime most days.
We are so short staffed it just isn't possible for an early finish.

Seriously, if they get in even half of that, we're f####d.
Next year they'll want the half they didn't get this year, plus some more.
So then they'll get the half they didn't get this year- roll forward 3 years maximum and the job is dead.
The real world we have to deliver in is on another planet to their nirvana.

If they shorten the hrs per week during the "quieter " summer months, the indoor work which is increasing! Will take the same amount of time , and the delivery span will take the same amount of time ! Then you will bank even more hours per week during the summer months, no chance Mr mc cauley , your plan to save money is down the tubes , this annualised hours lark is going to cost the business even more money. Don't you see it oh my watch this space

4 weeks is not good enough.
They still haven't worked this out, they dont have an answer.

Ive got absolutely no chance of doing a 32 hour week. The only days I could make any time is on a Wednesday or Thursday. This is surely unworkable they can’t even cover peoples days off.

No way can this work. It would mean doing away with lapsing to get these light summer days he goes on about and even then you would probably go over 32 hours in a week and they will make it so there’s no way we can claim the hours owed back in the winter.

I’m confused. If you remove daily absorption to ensure early finish in summer, RM will still be paying overtime to clear uncovered deliveries (from holidays). If the idea is to ensure everything is done every day, how are they saving any money?

Does anyone work in these mythical offices where people get finished hours early in the summer? Our office is that stretched that half the days the duties that we are meant to absorb don't get done as there's no time.

I noticed there was no answer to the question about delivering under street light. It can be dark up here at 3pm in the winter. He has no clue about the health and safety risk of being out when it gets dark. There are so many potential trip and slip hazards that can't be seen. And you can bet anything that any accident will be our fault.
