the war for talent is clear - when the job market is like this (Job vacancies outpace unemployment for first time) - people can ‘vote with their feet’ - the view is this is why the airline industry is in such trouble….

Theres an article in the Guardian about an Airport Security Officer at Stansted Airport who said that they could fill all the jobs tomorrow if they paid people more money.

But because they have just designated most airline jobs as low-paid, people were put off applying


The security officer role is £14 an hour and he takes home about £1,200 a month

Most people at my depot lump it within a year of joining as it stands.

Seems he's happy with an even higher turnover of staff by saying what he's saying here.

Not sure what that does to Royal Mail's finances, I assume it's beneficial otherwise why disincentivise your staff?

At the end of the day, the pay rise has to at least meet the National Living Wage increase of 6.6% and he knows it, anything less is ridiculous. He's just trying his luck. We'll get there eventually. At least to shareholders he'll look like he tried.

Agreed. With Rico we had those lights etc on his mansion. With Simon we are just posting little memes. And yet I find Simon more irritating, more annoying and more dangerous. At least with Rico he didn’t pretend to like us and never called us team.

The union need to ramp it up.
