People who think they can take the money and leave for another job are in for a shock, I hate to break it to people but there is not alot of jobs out there and the jobs out there are massively applied for, when it comes down to signing on the dotted line some people are gonna have 2nd thoughts, it's only 9 months pay you'll be lucky to make that last 6 months at the moment
So what do you expect someone to do when either they are in a situation where they nay have to take voliuntary redundancy or the pressure of the job gets too much for them?
THat argument you have mentioned is often trotted out, but people have to try to get a job.

The problem is not the job but the cabal in charge these degenerated fools who cannot read a script and look half honest without someone giving them tips of how to run a business and conduct an interview on TV. Thing is greed of this nations rich has sucked the life out of the economy by it's vampire economics we are to be bled dry for the super rich!

Taking vr and leaving also gives you the choice to train retrain or even setup a small business of your own.For most people this job is taking over there lives including me posting this at midnight.which when you think about it its nuts.
It doesn’t make sense to me using seniority as a way to decide, if this really is a cost cutting tactic. You want the people with more years remaining service, out of the business, not those with just a couple of years. A 50 year old, who has done 15 years will cost you more in wages going forward than a guy a few years off retiring.
Maybe the person a few years off retiring doesn't actually want to retire, and they can't be forced to either.
Could just make the process easier for everyone. Who ever wants out just pay off. Oh what an ideal outcome for everyone that would be.
I'm looking at it from a business perspective. It's obvious to me that getting rid of full-time contracts would save the most money not only that what would be the point in paying someone off on long-term sick when after X amount of time doesn't sick pay stop? Meaning no cost to the business compared to the cost of someone being in work all the time getting paid.
All just my opinion but good luck to everyone with their future and have the best Christmas possible.
