I think the unions approach to this has been misguided. A long protracted strike was not the way.

We should have gone out the first week for a whole week, that would have garnered a lot more attention, and what would it have cost an extra day in pay compared to what we are doing now.

A week without the national postal carrier would have made better headlines, and the fallout from it would have been big. This sporadic days here and there striking doesn't have the same clout.

I think we should have all worked to rule instead. At my office we all get in early from 30 mins to an hour and mist if us work over or we would end up not completing AND more importantly not doing the merges which are a real bone of contention anyway.

Not sure the general public would notice if we worked to rule, but they notice if they don't get their Radio Times delivered and businesses have no collections. A day here, two days there, has no real affect as we just catch back up in a few days, and if the public are getting regular deliveries they've no real idea post is being delayed. I assume if it was causing RM big problems they'd be doing all they could to stop the strikes, they must be over the moon the next strikes include a Saturday, when businesses are closed and there are no afternoon collections.
