Don’t vote yes just because they say it’s the best they can do. They can come back with better than this.
What do you think will be better than this?
Their reasons to vote yes sheet is vague. They could at least firm things up for us rather than relying on the promise of Royal Mail.

Pay: ok it is what it is.

Job security: DOs short staffed so no one getting made redundant.

Allowances: They could have conceded these in an attempt to increase overall pay for all.

Sunday Working: Non starter for Royal Mail without an agreement.

Flexibility: A sell out. Should have fought to keep us on 37 hour weeks all year round and not started us on long weeks for no extra pay this year.

Late Finishes: They claim one hour but no clarity on this as of yet. The later starts could have been mitigated by reducing the working week by an hour so we don’t finish quite as late or bringing in a 4 day week (this would also allow people to do overtime)

Conduct: Too niche

Sick absence: Sold out. Could have settled on half pay for the first couple of days of the second absence rather than zero.

New Entrants: Vague detail, can’t see many jumping to join on these terms.

Expanding the role of postal workers: What’s this all about?

Despite both sides saying they can do no better than the deal on the table? So what are they missing that you are aware of? If you could let them know, it would be helpful for us all.

Prepared to give up 6 day uso now
Everything we stood against last year is being accepted
They have deffo been got at
Tell you what Dave why don’t you try a delivery
Wouldn't mind if they got rid of the 6 day uso if it meant we could work Mon to Fri.... working until 4.30pm / 5pm on a Saturday is going to suck balls...

Royal Mail are about to struggle really badly with recruitment with the way things are going. People will leave, but Royal Mail will struggle to employ and keep new staff too.

RM have threatened CWU executives with withdrawing funding and expenses for them
And the threat to put them out to delivery 😂😂😂😂
That’s why there pushing for a yes vote
CWU executives are surely paid from union funds ie to some (if not all) degree from the contributions we pay.

Below that level, not sure how it works re pay and expenses.

you do know certain reps who only ever do cwu related work :left: are still employed and paid by RM?
and often with lucrative add ons like shift allowances wpc payments, grandfather rights money, if they pulled the plug on this then our subs would be £3.64 per day not per week

if they get their way and secure a yes vote - everyone should stop their union subs and kick them all out of a job ! no need to have this useless bunch of tossers in the future , as they are powerless now !
Do you look at what you write? You need to read this again, it makes no sense.

No they didn't.
They threatened to stop the way that the CWU collects its funds and they threatened to greatly reduce both the number and the amount of time reps at all levels have to represent you which the CWU pays for through central billing.

Royal Mail doesn't fund the CWU in any way.
The CWU legally has to produce accounts.
Are you saying this "funding" is off the books because I would be very careful about that accusation.

There is far too much disinformation and blatant personal abuse of both members and people on the spotlight on this site now , it was once a useful site where people could come to find out important facts, have a bit of banter and have open, honest and forthright debates about serious subjects.

It is a pale shadow of its former self unfortunately.

Yes and the mods don’t seem to want to get involved either. I reported a post that was blatant misinformation yesterday when it was clearly made up just to attempt to sway the vote. Absolutely nothing done about it.

My issues with this deal is the vagueness of it.

We won’t know our finish times - could be -15:30 or could be 17:30 the difference there is massive.

We don’t know what the new flexibility agreement will be- will the 30mims still be voluntary or mandatory, office wide or used against individuals ? Again , massive issue.

We don’t know what the new indoor methods will be or the new outdoor standards will be - this job is getting physically tough, of that there’s simply no doubt about how that relates to my first 2 concerns. Walking 14 miles plus per day in all weathers takes its toll.

That brings me to the sick pay , all of the above means more sickness and if we had a proper annual leave system and better ad-hoc leave requests then the sick pay isn’t as much of an issue but that was true before all of this.

Why annual leave hasn’t been addressed in all of this is beyond me but then again that requires offices to be staffed correctly so maybe not.

This all leads me to thinking voting no , and putting this back to our union that haven’t addressed a lot of concerns isn’t a good idea…

I can see why some will vote yes because they have no faith in the union anymore.

Me , I’m not sure.

Agreed. We need more detail on the table otherwise it’s a firm no.
