Royal Mail always throw every proposal they can think of into negotiations in the hope that they can make some of them stick. Things like 10,000 compulsory redundancies, mandatory Sundays and commit to deliver were never ever serious proposals.

Until they are. They'll keep coming. It brings to mind the line in Aliens: "Next time they walk right up and knock".
