Magic trick is obviously hiding everything, and then blaming backlog 100% on the strikes - we had to move the stuff due to health and safety concerns. Get the regulator to enforce the 100% clearance every day and every duty, or massive fines for failure, think that's our last chance. Very little mail the past month, even losing 2 strike days a week would leave RM 5 days to clear stuff out - obviously they can't manage without us. Even the great Tommy Cooper would struggle with this magician's tricks.

Why are the regulator/OFCOM suddenly going to enforce 100% compliance when they haven't done if for 2 years and, if anything, the Government won't want the unions to defeat the company if the rule was ever enforced.

The CWU have messed up big time as they've now given RM at least a fortnight to clear the Christmas backlog before any more strikes take place.

Well well, as this post points out...."as if by magic".......imagine my shock when I went in this morning to an office absolutely rammed with Yorks and trays everywhere. Where did it all come from? Couldn't be the backlog as Simon Thompson said it was cleared!! Plus we had 12 blokes in on earlies trying to clear the 'imaginary' backlog since 4am, without so much as even putting a dent in it. Oh and the dom/com says "stop prepping" at 7.45 to attempt to get out at a reasonable time, and just leave what you have left as there is "plenty more" where that came from. And it will take us a FEW WEEKS to get back to normal working!! Could Simon have been LYING? : :hmmmm :Very Happy

So where is this fictional backlog? No sign of any backlog last night, it was quite quiet, back to what you'd normally get through on a normal Monday night. We're still taking in diversions from other MCs

Ask yourself, are they diversions from other offices or is it mail that was originally in your office and as now returned from its journey from the back of an artic that's been up and down the motorway for the last several weeks :hmmmm

My office rammed,10 boxes of xmas cards under my bench ,8 yorkes in front of sorting frames ready to be sorted and 12 yorkes behind the frames stacked with flats and xmas cards, even with no strikes i reckon it will take a good month to get through,we need more strikes announced now, what are they waiting for.

Got to be diversions, we normally do get diversions from other MCs this time of year. It's virtually all been coming out the first half of stackers where the outward selections are, if it were "local" stuff then there'd be a lot more heading to the stackers for the batches

I don't know if it's true or not but my workmate just told me the union and management are talking again today . We might know more later .

About 15 trays of mail for my round in two days.
Was delivering 1st class letters today dated 07/12.
The rest predominantly Christmas cards.
This is after Royal Mail told us everything was completely clear - no mail came in for two days before the strike on the 23/24th Dec.

Disgraceful.

Still calling it a fictional backlog?

Still a fictional backlog for us, with many work areas scratching around for work at times last night

Temp manager today, covering day off, told me that Upper management have told them to make sure the backlog is cleared by Saturday (shaking his head and laughing). Currently we have 20 York’s of manual in the office, which is increasing on a daily basis. They are putting in hours of overtime and it’s nowhere near getting cleared and at this rate, unless there’s a massive drop off in January, we’ll be delivering Boxing Day sale cards in March.

Well, our office is a disaster zone & that is no exaggeration. Boxes piled up everywhere & loads & loads of unsorted mail. A number of walks uncovered due to AL & high level sick
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

“If they’re bills I don’t want ‘em!”

“What’s she been ordering now?”

Another quiet night, back to normal non-Xmas staffing levels and we still made some time. The mech was even quieter than last night when normally the first day of the week (normally a Monday non Bank holiday weeks) is the quietest on the mech
