Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
I wouldn’t be so sure on that.
• RM can’t just change the key things they want on their own because it would be breach of contract - hence why this £900 has been recently added as a sweetener/bribe.
• If a NO vote is returned, Dave Ward probably has to consider his position - at which point things stall because neither side has a figurehead to direct negotiations.
• BUT - RM can’t afford to have a deeply disgruntled and decreasing frontline workforce with seasonal pressure around the corner… especially as they suddenly start to realise that their imposed revisions and DPR’s aren’t working as well as they expected - so they impose some form of pay rise / lump sum for 2023 only and kick negotiations on these other changes into 2024.
• a NO vote also frustrates RM’s plan to announce the new CEO after a successful conclusion of this industrial dispute so that they’re clear from any association and can present a “fresh start.”
• a delay also brings RM closer to having to report to the market on financial performance. I suspect, they won’t be posting a £1 million a day loss this time.
• additionally, OFCOM will also be breathing down RM’s neck a little more soon as their investigation on USO performance moves forward - of course there’s not been a strike for months so they can’t blame it on that now.

What a car crash of an update . They really are so arrogant - constantly reminding us the incredible concessions they agreed. The CWU is so so out of touch it's infuriating. Saving their own privileged skins at their members expense. Absolutely disgraceful.

Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
I'm in CE and the agreement (to nobodies surprise) doesn't mention us at all and barely affects us (sick pay change alone pretty much) but i'll still be voting no - the agreement is a total sell out of Operations in return for pay rises that don't even come close to inflation and a ÂŁ1400 quid bribe.
The hard sell by the CWU is so off-putting, if the deal was as good as they claimed they wouldn't need to spend so much time and energy to convince people - no good deal needs the hard sell, it sells itself.

Spot on, 1st quarter result announced late July after ballot results. RM needs to workforce to move forward, otherwise you have an inexperienced workforce and quality of service will drop furtherCamPostie wrote: ↑22 Jun 2023, 21:16I wouldn’t be so sure on that.

Re: The CWU Update on Facebook
It has to be a no vote. Of course money's important but when I went on strike it was mainly over terms and conditions. That's not changed for me because the union's done a u-turn. They can keep their bribe, they can keep their pay rise, I was always prepared to walk out over changes to Sundays, finish times and sick pay. My position remains the same. The union no longer speak for me and are not acting in my interests. I'll be sad if the membership just follow them in the u-turn, but a lot of people can be easily pressured and swayed. A disturbing situation this is.
