Serious financial hardship! So happy to lie for Royal Mail after previously uncovering the truth of giving all the profits away in dividends, then that triggered huge bonuses and the stopping of the GLS cross subsidy!
They aren’t lying for anyone. Giving away millions in the past, doesn’t change the fact that that money is now gone. The reality is, the company is in the s**t because of the lack of mail and increasing costs. If you think we are as busy now as we were back in 2020 which lead to those dividend payouts, then we will just have to agree to disagree.

Maybe we are not as busy as we were back in 2020 but that is not why the company are in the s**t. The company careered on a path of self-destruction with thousands of under-utilised and overpaid agency workers, higher paid COMs and bonuses and everything else that RM have done to put this company in the doldrums. RM flushed money down the toilet and now its gone.

The reality is that its now up to the lowest people on the food chain to try and save the company from ruin by walking extra miles and delivering even more parcels than they were before.

Agency workers are not overpaid, they get exactly the same pay as regular staff
I was referring to when the company first announced 10,000 compulsory redundancies to the media and then promptly recruited over 11,000 agency workers. An agency worker back then told me how much they were getting paid and that was after the agency had took their fees

On Sundays they were getting paid even more

New employees, who don't work there yet will be offered worse terms and it will be up to them to accept it or not
Is that really the trade union way?
Why would the new employees bother with the union if the union can't be bothered with them?
No new recruits means dwindling funds and the demise of the union.
Unfortunately that's how it's always been. Would of thought union would actually fight for those that aren't getting allowances to have their pay match those that are and work from there on a pay deal instead of basically just fighting for them to keep theirs. Really missed a trick on that one. In agreement though, think if the union wants future subs, really should fight for these people that are coming into this business. The ones that are getting these allowances won't be here for very long in the future.

I started 20 months ago and my terms are considerably worse than people who started a year or two before me. I've only been eligible for sick pay for 2 months (they tell you it's a year, then change it to "a year after your permanent contract starts"), have to work 1 in 3 Sundays, have a clause in the small print that states RM can move my start/finish times with less than 24 hours notice (we have at least 3 newish people who regularly get told at 1pm via text that they're scheduled on 12-6 the next day)....

The CWU haven't cared about the future of the staff for some time
Your contract is with RM,not the CWU
Kinda a dickish thing to say to someone when union is supposedly trying to fight for the "future of Royal Mail". Are these new people not the future of Royal Mail or union suppose to butter up the existing staff that probably will end up f***ing off in a few years time? Why wouldn't they take this opportunity to gain more subs to their union by getting them better terms and conditions?

I think the point should have been how much RM were paying out for agency workers rather than what they were actually being paid, under utilised was definitely the case though.

It's not the agency workers fault that the company decided to waste millions. Because some of our workers were striking the company used the agency rather than pay out usual levels of overtime.

But there are also more questions that could be asked. When it became obvious that ST was never going to get an agreement with the CWU why didn't Keith Williams intervene? Why has it taken him over 6 months and a prospective meeting with the Select Committee to then meet up with Dave Ward? The fact we had a strike at Xmas even though the union offered the company an olive branch is characteristic of how uncompromising the Royal Mail are.

And if the company is in real dire straits like they say it is then ST should give back his bonus...

I'll accept a crappy deal off the back of the company's doomed financial state if I saw living proof of this in the form of senior management jumping from windows 1929-style. Not if they waltz into the sunset with stuffed pockets.
The machine stops.

Plus agency fees. According to our COM the agency have had to take a hit to their pay this month as they now (as of March 1st) get what we get before the agency takes a cut, whereas beforehand it was set up that they'd get what we do (except on hard to staff days, Sundays and holidays etc) and RM would pay the agency on top
I heard that between the agency worker'spay and the agency fee/profit it was costing RM £20/hour

That's the same observation I was making, it goes back to last year when we were all getting wound up because rm were blatantly wasting money on agency staff plus large quantities of hire vans both of which were vastly under utilised, and they did this rather than give us a decent pay rise, oh yeah just remembered the overtime ban at our busiest time when they also gave the work to agency thus costing them at least 3 times as much.

None of the agency workers in the DO I was in were ever from Angard. They were Pertemps, Manpower or Reed.
Royal Mail
failing the workforce, failing the public and deliberately failing mail on a daily basis for too many years.

All revisions will go through ,
The CWU have made a big mistake in trying to tell a private company how to run there Business ,
They should have just stuck with the pay rise bit .
The best we can hope for now is a 7% pay rise backdated ,

Let royal mail make there own mistakes re revisions and slave labour owner drivers that are dragging the company down to poor quality of service like EVRI AND YODEL .

Just turn up for work on time (not early) do your hours take your breaks and go home on time ,
if the revisions are not working that is a managers problem .
What happens when the B&H starts on a regular basis, questioning your indoor and outdoor performance?
Data collated giving indoor prep times being stuck on main board ( so everyone can see ) even though it’s not meant to be used as a performance tool ( which it is ) because people are being took in office and questioned. Long gone are the days of “ well come out and test me and the walk..” that stopped years ago when they realised a majority of walks were unachievable then let alone now. Now it’s all forecasted BS… and they won’t listen to anything else except there doctored forecasts.
We’re on our second revision in less than 18months ( we’re a pilot office ) most haven’t had one yet and trust me when I say it nothing has come out of either of them positively.
We’ve lost 35 staff since the first revision started !
Almost all units had a revision pre November 2021. So.e were postponed til afterwards, but would be surprised if anyone in country hasn't been through a revision of some description in a delivery office in last 18 months.
Table top revisions maybe, but full revisions I doubt it.
Hence I said a revision of some description. However structural revisions were widely implemented all throughout calendar year 2021, mostly towards the end of said year.

When we had temps and hire vans sitting about on quiet days, and an overtime ban on busy days, angard workers were clogging up their own forum complaining that RM were using Manpower instead of them and asking why they were getting shafted

Did you misunderstand the point deliberately or was it a genuine error?
My contract is with RM, but the CWU have allowed them to dramatically reduce the terms and conditions for new starters with (seemingly) no fight or pushback for many years, though I've been told that some of the contract inclusions are concessions from previous "deal of the century"'s where the CWU have said "okay you can put that in going forward but leave existing staff alone."
I know who employs me, I also know who represents my interests and I was pointing out that they've been pretty slack at representing the interests of future staff members for quite a while now

I believe what the trade union movement should do is use our collective strength to protect the weakest.
There appears to be a moral void at the heart of this trade union.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

I've changed my mind now.....

Poor Royal Mail I'm glad we are getting our forced revision this week with 600 extra drops!

I'm more than happy to walk 6 hours a day after nearly 29 years of purely being on delivery in fact if I end up in a wheel chair to line the boards pockets and pay more special dividends then bring it on.

I am a shareholder after all 🤬
Have you walked 500 miles? Have you been asked to walk 500 more? You may be entitled to compensation. Call the Pro Claimers at your earliest convenience.
