SP you totally miss the point.
In a DO we are expected to absorb everything that's thrown at us on a daily basis, and now more on top.
In an MC if that work doesn't get completed you roll it over for the next shift no?
Or do you get bullied into sorting faster?
Genuine question.

Sometimes the work will be waiting for us next day if the next shifts don't have the hours, as they'll have their own workplans to complete first. The alternative would be to hold back wave 2 dispatches until everything is done

So basically you go to work, do work, then go home regardless of whether it's all completed or not.

No ridiculous arguments, no bullying, no why can't you complete look at your fitting you've got loads of time, no the computer says your duty takes 30 minutes to prep/tie up/load in to van, no but Fred can manage it (ignore the fact he starts early never has a break and he's 30 years younger than me), no you're too slow it's a performance issue, no concentrate on the trackeds, you get the picture here.

Sorry not having a go these are all things that occur in delivery offices.

Generally whenever we fail in the MC it's the line managers and the shift manager who get the flak, which is as it should be. They might come to us and tell us that we need to do better, and we will point out that we are under resourced, their bosses are incompetent, and that's not a problem of our creation. They will agree that's the case and blame the plant manager, or whoever it is who is allocating the hours to the shifts and lying to whoever he has to answer to about what is actually achievable. And so it goes. It doesn't make us immune to the threats that come with the revision exercise, and the knowledge that actual power has been handed to the managers in a way they are not used to.

When the shifts in MCs end we dispatch the mail, anything that fails won't be going anywhere and has to wait for the next dispatch (for inward I don't know if they send it out on the empty runs to DOs that pick up the collections). I believe that the linos have to account for and justify every last hour that they use. AFAIK all streams have a target workrate, you may nt have it similar in DOs yet but I think it's only a matter of time before RM bring something in for both the indoor and outdoor work.

I doubt that there's going to be a single shift/office anywhere that doesn't have a full office/shift re-sign

The COMs almost certainly all know that but have likely been told by their bosses that if they don't implement the revisions, they'll get kicked out and a new COM brought in that will implement the revisions

Revisions are coming our way and I feel it's like an avalanche heading towards us. CWU Are using a sheet of cardboard to stop it flowing towards us and you know it ain't stopping anything in it's path. Yes vote won't stop anything but fingers crossed it will slow the avalanche down.
Keep Faith is the word I'm trying honestly but we'll need bigger spades to dig our selves out of the mess that's heading our way.

Assuming a yes vote tomorrow that still means the first IA date won't be before 2nd March. I wonder whether the exec have already agreed dates on the assumption of a good result?

We are at the start of yet another revision. Loads of walks lapsed and divided out between us today. Went at same pace my partner and I always go. Took our full break, refused overtime and came back on time bringing most of it back. Job done.

Absolutely, the way to do it, if everyone followed your lead RM would be screwed without any industrial action

Just come in on your start time and finish on your finish time, take your breaks and carry on at the standard delivery pace. Its the people that come in early, and race round to finish early in your office that are your worst enemy!
