I am not a union member but intend on striking as long as it takes to get the outcome which I find satisfactory, regardless of the financial implications. The way in which the company has treated us frontline workers is absolutely disgraceful and I’m not prepared to accept any of their changes unless it sanctioned by the CWU and it is reflected in my pay packet.

A strike day should not be viewed as a day off. You should at least be at the picket and on top of that u really should be prepared to go to work that day if anything was to happen last minute. The queen dying should have shown you how things can change!

How last minute is last minute and how are they going to tell you to get back to work if you're busy doing something else? I view strikes as unpaid leave. Nobody on our picket lines, everyone just sees it as an extra day off unpaid or goes in for easy money. Strikes are doing no good whatsoever in my opinion.

Ive not voted yet, leaving it last min, was a bit dissapointed in cwu during last round of strikes, considering how much money us members have lost to these strikes how many saturdays did we strike? what did we have 18 to 20 days of strikes, i can only think of 1 or 2 saturdays max we striked, you would think if cwu valued and listened to their members they would put in more saturdays as strike days give the guys a weekend off to spend to go see a football match or whatever, was a lot of wednesday, thursday, fridays, go on union give us some saturdays off least u can do

If RM get their way letter deliveries will be Monday to Friday so you can have every Saturday off

Ermm, think you'll find you'll be delivering pkts at least on Saturday. Don't think for a minute a relaxation of the USO will mean we all work mon-friday .

voting no is agreeing with simons vision for royal mail the majority of us accept their has to be change but the proposals in which he wants to get on board with are laughable, seven walks to be lapsed with seven packet duties to be created starting at 11 oclock but any spare vans to be removed from our office, so the packet men have to wait until the delivery staff return from their duty as i said to our manager is this a wind up, no was his reply i have to try and put in place what i am told. their will be 78 of us voting yes and 1 no.

That's a good one, no Van's for packet deliveries, classic!! Should be fun when those doing letters dont get back until 4pm or later

I'd go for a pkt duty then, sounds a doddle, go into work for 11 and hang around waiting for a van for half your shift, easy money although a little boring!

I always thought royal mail was a great company, loved working for them but was always shocked with some other employees and managers attitudes towards it, the total disregard and taking for granted the benefits we are given I mean after all we are unskilled labour.

I loved the ethos, the equal opportunities, the care for the sick and disabled, the voice we had against bullying and harassment.
The fact that if you were targeted by vindictive managers deep down you knew you had a chance to challenge their behaviour in line with royal mail's conduct code and a trade union that would support you.

All these things coupled with the fact that I voted yes before and already have skin in the game as the Aussies would say mean I have already voted yes if not for me then for those that will follow me in this job.

The changes are mostly ok from my point of view and I’m only here to get paid.

You honestly believe that RM will stop at these changes? Without a union and with a beaten workforce they will do anything they want to. Compulsory redundancy with basic amounts, pay freezes, no appeal dismissals . Hope you aren't hoping to be a lifer!

Thats the view of a lot of guys in my office including me.

If you vote No or we end up losing this dispute at least you know what's coming . Just don't blame the union .

If its a no vote,thompson wins and we will have to adapt to his changes and he will feel like he can trample all over us and could be the end for the union.
