Cool video. Thanks.

Just needs to be stressed. £567 million spent last year in dividends and stock buy-backs.
RM/GLS also spent £210 million buying a Canadian transport company in 2021:shock: oh and before that 2018 they bought a Canadian logistics company for £213 million.

I think that they will only be looking at future expected profits when working on the pay/conditions talks. I expect that the way it works is that the books will need balancing in this period regardless of past profits.

If all the changes lead to the job becoming unworkable - I'll leave, as will hundreds of others.
So if they don’t give us what we want then we give them what they want.. lulz :d'oh!

So, they’ve bled the company dry over the last couple of years - off the back off monumental profits during COVID.

Massive Bonuses, free shares; huge divedends; high-fives all round.

Now, their statistician jockeys probably projected that this influx of “parcels”, was the new norm, the “way forward” so to speak.
Clearly not the case.
So they’ve now spent a little too much on parcel hubs, and gave out one too many bonuses.

The suits at the top are getting squeaky bums,
because they thought their dreams had come true, everyone stays at home permanently, ordering parcels! The RM higher echelons wet dream. Obviously like always though, they didn’t think further than their own bonuses and 5 minutes into the future. Was it really sustainable? Surely the parcel business would subside after everybody re-entered reality?
So they peddle the “losing £1million a day”. Which really means we’re making £1million less than we projected and our shareholders are getting tetchy.

So, the only possible solution (while CEO’s & financial advisors continue to earn millions in free shares and bonuses) during this time of poverty: workers.
The people at the bottom. The hard workers.
Decimate their rights, make them work longer/harder/ for less pay. Threaten them if they refuse to cooperate.

That will claw back some losses and keep shareholders happy for a while.

Bonuses all round!

f**k off Simon and all the predatory CEO’s & board members like you.

About 7:25 in tells you all you need to know. “People costs” too high. Eat into profit.
Especially going forward if those pesky employees ask for Payrises.
“Achilles heel” I think they called it.

Simon's latest post on Workplace, which is basically threatening redundancies are going to be made:

"G...... E...... we are cutting budgets now - our sales are falling due to strike action - we will soon need to look at reducing operational headcount - sorry to be so straightforward...."

Surely if the company is now going to threaten to make redundancies it needs to be done officially not view a list of its social media channel?

Although you have to sense if redundancies were ever offered they'd be a massive rush for them.

I’ll be the Scumbag to ask..

If redundancies were required, beyond voluntary, is there any reason why RM would not follow a “last in first out” approach?

Asking purely as an academic exercise

This sounds like probably the most honest assessment of Royal Mail we've heard (talking about the You Tube Video) proving that RM 's profits didn't take a nose dive after Covid, we've actually managed to pick up a bit extra. Fancy that our Bosses are Lying Bastards .... who'd have thought? ;liar

It always annoys me when they start going on about us having a 500 year history .... WE DON'T .... Royal Fails current "History" started in October 2013 and since then it's been a Bloody Shambles! :arrrghhh Having watched that video I just can't understand what the hell's going on, apparently we're so underpriced as a company that we should be trading in a car boot sale and fighting off predatory Asset Stripping Assholes left, right and centre.

The commentator must have a crystal ball though as he points out that the employees are the biggest problem ... especially if the cheeky buggers ask for a pay rise ... AND you'd better be careful because they might go out on Strike. :cuppa
Like all Wage Slaves, he had two crosses to bear: The people he worked for and the people he worked with! (Stephen Vizinczey.)

Simon really need to look very hard at himself and his inner team at the top... Why take a bonus of £140,000 for himself during tough negotiation about pay for the work force during hyper inflation and cost of living crisis. How can he so self-unaware of the message that send to the Union or and the workers asking for a decent pay rise?

Is he just very selfish, arrogant or just plain greedy? I would not mind addressing him directly on workplace he has failed with his messaging, not setting good example and basically winding up the employees. I don't want to use workplace because of the Facebook link...

To compound the situation, he and his narrow team have now been awarded large amount of share option - that is so not right. He has repeatedly said RM is losing 1 million a day (compared to Pandemic high - is it a loss or just not doing well in current situation); yet, they are wasting money on bonuses, share options and agency/managers strike breakers and so on.

For me, I do accept that RM is not awash with money - Pandemic high is not going to return for a while... Special dividends given out might be outrageous to most but that was on the back of no dividends the year before and bumper profits shared with the investors - it is a PLC after all. That dividend payout is done and not relevant to future profitability or reserves.

* Simon could easily do better with his messaging... Energy cost for all our offices will treble. Electricity cost of charging ev vans and vehicles will be massive - no caps for businesses. The cost of the ev vans is huge. Parcel volumes are going to be down because of cost of living crisis and competition wt those paying less on staff and benefits for be staff. Paying an inflation busting increase cannot be sustainable not knowing how much RM will be making in future.

I could go on but the first thing Simon should do is to return his £140,000 bonus and the shares option. Give it to a hardship fund for Posties at this desperate time...

Then make a good gesture of an increase of another 2% no strings, a lump sum of perhaps £500 and then the changes with an additional 2.5 if the changes are accepted.
