No investigation needed we all know why the stikes we canceled but it is very hard for those who had to make arrangements even canceled people who they relied on week to week just because someone died. And in an inevitable post it is the Queen so what my gran died at the same age did I get the day off did I f**k sorry to say this but it is what it is a tragedy for those close to her but an eye opener for the rest of us it is unprecedented but alas one soul of the thousands every day and it is a cold hard fact!

Completely agree ,they got us out early yesterday so walked nearly 6 hours .where was our union then ,got home knackered deflated and absolutely pissed off,they will have to do a lot of hard work to convince me they are on our side,im now for the first time in 25 years contemplating jacking it all in and moving on.

Who went in today? I decided during the night that I wasn’t going in. Turned off my mobile and answering machine, went back to bed! I’ll deal with the fallout when I go back next week. No manager even called or texted me last night about the strike being off.

A few didn’t turn up 2day and weren’t answering calls

This subject raises several points. The first is: WHY does your manager have your PRIVATE phone number?

Dorset Plodder, many of your posts I completely agree with, but this one I'm afraid.....

That's not a problem mate. If you check the time I posted it was several hours into the Strike Call Off drama. Some DOMs had gotten straight onto their contacts list and got in touch with everyone in the DO, to try and ensure they turned up for work. Some apparently with a sense of Gloating.

Some posters, on other forums, were complaining that they though it was out of order for their DOM to be phoning them late at night. Hence my comment about giving him your phone number. Of course it's your businesss but you can't then complain when these people ring you.

As someone else commented the Funeral will probably be a BH type day off. Although it's down to the Employer if they give you the day off I don't suppose it would make Simple Simon look very good in the eyes of the press?
