We were told by our rep that any disagreement to the revision won’t be dealt with unless it’s a yes vote.

Our once good office what cleared everyday is now failing the majority of the walks and losing experienced staff on a weekly basis. Every week they ask people to come work on their rest days or weeks.

My delivery is now a minimum of 4:30 on a quiet day and over 5 hours on a slightly busy day if I have more than a tray of mech I know I’m not getting done.
If the mail fails that's management problem, not ours. That's a stupid stance, vote yes, or what, you have to work past your time? :no no

...............

We have a small office of about 20 deliveries. A lot of us work days off, daily overtime and are continuedly short staffed, either by people leaving, sick leave or the very slow process of bringing in new staff.

............
If the office is small when peeps stop working OT/days off and just do contracted hours then deliveries start failing they'll soon get some staff in.
Or they might not - but that's management's problem.
Money is tight to say the least at the moment. But , I see working OT days off as as a betrayal.
I understand we are squeezed, not done anything over my duty for years because apart from being robbed. It keeps your PT collogues poorly paid and on an inferior contact.

But needs must for some, I guess

Same. I haven’t done a single bit of OT in over 12-months. Honestly can’t bring myself to do it. However, colleagues of mine think differently or are very desperate. We even had a crew of seven in last bank holiday Monday, going out on delivery.

Just bemuses me that even though we have at least 6 vacancies in my DO,they won’t make any PT’s up yet they’ll beg them to come in & work on bank holiday weekends….personally I’d be telling them to stick it!
“Shorts,in this weather?!”

This revisions are the stupidest business move I've ever witnessed. The logic move for a declining letters would have been to actually reduce the working hours like they originally planned. Instead, they've opted to just straight up give up on one aspect of the company in favour of another (parcels) rather than just trying to profit on both sides. They are actively pissing money away and have a bigger advantage on their so called competition. The fact that union have turned around and OK'd these changes such as the seasonal hours and extending deliveries is bonkers. Literally putting more strain on its own members and likely to increase the absences further. Maybe the letters and parcels have declined, but look at the amount of people that have left and what we are doing now compared to two years ago. It's night and day to what the job was. There are people in our office that are normally pretty level headed that are off sick with either stress or physically broken. It's at a breaking point and everyone can see it bar the company and the union.

If the mail fails... We are Posties.

If the mail fails and it does every day. We fail.
It's disgraceful.

Yeah, heaven forbid people go to work to be able to afford things like holidays. Do you finish work then go home and sit in a dark room till the next working day? People are allowed to have a life outside of work.

Yes!
overtime for holidays is completely different to affording an holiday on basic pay, to which quite a few cannot now do,
i said several times we should have a work to rule for a while but the cwu leaders decided it cannot be done, well done those 1 dimensional guys we pay subs to

How many times on here do you need to be told a rule to work will never work. And why blame cwu leaders still in union yourself...

We have a union rep and a health and safety rep who are constantly away on "union business" never doing delivery and never doing what they are actually paid by Royal Mail to do. Should they be released if there is no cover? Should the union not be covering the extra wages/overtime involved in these work shy employees deliveries, who instead love going round drinking cups of tea and passing empty folders of bull sh*t about?
Are you saying your Unit Reps are on Full Release for the Union, i.e No Delivery Duties? If so I'm surprised a unit that size would be able to support them. Full Release is normally for Bigger Units (with more staff). If you're not happy contact the local Union Office find out when the next re-election is and put up another candidate. So often these characters get the jobs because no-one else is willing to put their name forward. Then you've only got yourselves to blame. :cuppa

The Union has been pushing for Posties to "Work Properly" for years mainly concerning Taking Correct Meal Breaks, Using Correct Equipment and Not coming in Early for Free. I agree with you it Never works. :arrrghhh

A lot more staff in my Unit have started finishing at their contracted times now we've picked up extra outdoor work (just because they're knackered) but there's still a few struggling on to complete. In my Unit the ones who work their Days Off normally have the "Easy" Duties, ironically they're also the same ones that have the "Soft" Overtime every day, when they start early to sort early IPS... because the trucks are arriving later they're normally stood around with their thumb up their arse for 30-50 mins everyday! :no no

In answer to the original post: The message being pushed in recent briefings is a Yes Vote will at least let the Unit Reps back into the room, and in theory they will be able to Re-visit your Unagreed Revisions (pushed through under EA) and sort out the mess with the co-operation/agreement of the Unit Manager. When asked if there's a Plan B for a No Vote ....... Our Plan B is Royal Mail's Plan A!...... In other words they'll revert to their Original Plans and push through the changes which in their defence at least the Union have been able to mitigate, in most cases. :cuppa
