I think you'll find they can stipulate any of it and they can even change the contract and not pay you for the other 20 mins, they are luring people into resigns saying some can take it at the end,one thing i have learnt while working at Royal Mail is never trust a manager (bit like the Tories).redlen wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 07:15k979aaa wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 03:00Here is the agreement in full read it and digest it all it still holds the field to this day. https://www.cwu.org/wp-content/uploads/ ... t-2000.pdf
That agreement is 2000 and well past its sell by date.
The Equality Act 2010 takes precedent over that agreement as one example.
With the breaks.
The Working Time Regulations state they entitle you to a 20 minute break if working six hours or more. That entitlement cannot be at the start or end of your duty, but?
Royal Mail also gives 20 minutes as a bonus with a contractual entitlement.
So no issue taking 20 minutes statutory entitlement half way through your duty and take a further 20 minutes contractual entitlement off the end of your duty, However, Royal Mail can stipulate when you take that 20 minute contractual entitlement such as prior to leaving and going on delivery.
Also Royal Mail can state when you take that 20 minute contractual break if you are working six hours or less as a duty with no 20 minute statutory entitlement.

They know when you are stopped to take a break or whatever anyway. They can look to see. Even so, if the siso says you're early they ain't gonna cross reference it. Just won't happen.Wolf91 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 02:13They should have something on the PDA that you can enter to let them know when you are taking your break - what time precisely etc.
Would sort a lot of stuff out, least of all hassle off managers asking why you’ve stopped moving for half an hour, or like others have said, took half the break at the end of duty.

Re: Taking your break at the end-can we?
We were told around last Easter about not being allowed to take it at the end. When asked by a few lads, the CWU's response was "Use it or lose it." They insist on us taking our full breaks. As said by someone else, why finish 30 or 40 minutes early just to be told that their duty could take extra on!!guardianangel wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 07:41Was told the same thing in our office, not allowed break at end ,is this a national thing .

Defeatist attitude as usual Rambo. They don’t seem to know when you’re taking a break, they only know that you’re not moving. Which sometimes leads to the question of why you’re not moving, in which you have to explain that you’re having YOUR break. People can’t be bothered with the hassle all the time.rambo1 wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 08:52They know when you are stopped to take a break or whatever anyway. They can look to see. How many times do managers also say: “Well so & so can do it in the time allocated”, to which OPG responds: “Well they don’t take a break and run around”.
It would make sense. As much as going forward with the PDA actuals too. It’s guesswork at the minute with who actually takes their breaks, lots of people not taking their breaks or taking them at the end. Etc.
It would clear things up moving forward.

Re: Taking your break at the end-can we?
The actuals should be used to determine breaks. We had a dom assist who was a right jobsworth with the data and used to deduct minutes off your docket if you took 42 minutes for your break or if you were stopped at a level crossing or just didn't take your PDA around a cull de sac if you knew there was nothing to scan in your handful. It was blxxdy stressful every Thursday morning when you had a look at your payslip at work coz you knew you'd have to argue and justify yourself.
Just saying, they probably won't ever use the actuals to your favour so if you siso 20 mins early because you ain't took your break properly they ain't gonna go out their way to find out you weren't taking a break. They'll just say you were finished early. How is that defeatest?

You are a clown they the agreements don't have sell by dates they are infinitum till other agreements in place which of course will not happen if you dictate like you do!redlen wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 07:15k979aaa wrote: ↑07 Jan 2023, 03:00Here is the agreement in full read it and digest it all it still holds the field to this day. https://www.cwu.org/wp-content/uploads/ ... t-2000.pdf

They are scrutinising the pda activity in order to take out walks and cut hours so just as Rambo says, the pda doesn’t know you are taking a break at the end.
Take your break before leaving the office because you will be penalised in the long run.
’You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.’

Re: Taking your break at the end-can we?
I was told by the manger last week that the siso isn't live yet and won't be until the dispute is over . Does anyone know if that is right . Also at the moment we can go 20 mins early if we have had no meal relief.

But it is not so far linked to pay, at least not at the MC I work at. I get paid according my contracted hours, not the times I SISO, which vary.SpacePhoenix wrote: ↑08 Jan 2023, 10:13SISO has been live for well over a year now, probably 2 years
