Can't argue with the overtime payments being piss poor.
Been banging on about it for years .If the OT payments were half decent then we might have been in a different place then and now.

It is deliberate to discourage people from doing overtime. If you're part time, the rate is slightly highly (I think) until you hit the the hours equivalent to a full time contract. That's where it drops. The theory being full timers are put off from doing overtime meaning more part timers can boost their hours, and it encourages Royal Mail to make more part timers up to full time. Problem is, it just didn't work. Virtually all the overtime in our office is hoovered up by the senior full timers.
Yeah this entirely! The amount of senior full timers coming in on overtime in my office is very high. You got some getting paid few hours in the morning to sort parcels and s**t despite being full time. You'd of thought if the company was truly invested in the future (which we know they haven't), they would of had some of the part timers do some of the sorting. That way hours are more fair and not screwed if for instance them full the mers ring in sick. Feel like over the years as well union has sorta just been focused on the bare minimum on our end in just asking for a pay rise and trying to just keep things the way they are. Should of gotten the OT rate sorted soon as it was apparent it didn't work in their favour. The holiday pay is another screw up.Seymour Buts wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 22:41It is deliberate to discourage people from doing overtime. Sounds just like our place. Most of the golden oldies in early doing IPS and parcel sorting. Not a problem there, I don’t blame people for getting what they can. However the rest don’t get a look in.Shadedpostie wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 23:43Yeah this entirely! The amount of senior full timers coming in on overtime in my office is very high. This is correct.wandle wrote: ↑06 Jan 2023, 00:36There was a particular pay deal (the Way Forward?) where the agreed strategy was to enhance basic pay, ahead of overtime rates, as a priority, because many opg's didn't have access to overtime in their offices.
The link between base pay rate and overtime being a strict multiple (1.45x) of base pay rate was lost.
Simple don’t do any overtime, a lot of people work their day off but don’t realise you get paid £25 less
Think the point is, the union should be going in there to renegotiate that instead of accepting the rate it's currently at. Especially if they are currently in the negotiating table right now. Whether they actually have we don't exactly know, not really stated what they have negotiated bar protecting the terms we currently have.tractorboy2 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2023, 06:58This is correct.wandle wrote: ↑06 Jan 2023, 00:36There was a particular pay deal (the Way Forward?) where the agreed strategy was to enhance basic pay, ahead of overtime rates, as a priority, because many opg's didn't have access to overtime in their offices.

No good whinging now , it was voted in by the membership because they couldn't see pass the lump sum payment.
I personally agreed with the idea of enhancing basic pay but still voted no.
It's been proven that the business can indefinitely absorb any strike action we take. In truth, we have no choice but to accept a shafting.
how do you reckon that then?Mick100 wrote: ↑06 Jan 2023, 07:35Simple don’t do any overtime, a lot of people work their day off but don’t realise you get paid £25 less
I agree, I get it whether I have a bacon roll or a roll n sausage.Nickvilla20 wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 21:09If you work in a delivery office you get the delivery supplement regardless of your roll.theargyspy wrote: ↑05 Jan 2023, 19:03Bit of a SHOUTY first post![]()
I've been around for a long time too and don't recall past events the same as you. Under the Adam Crozier/ Allan Leighton regime they wanted to stop us being paid for Households (D2Dr's) altogether. It was only after a long period of talks the union eventually negotiated The Delivery supplement, it's not perfect but it's a lot better than what AC & AL wanted to give us....i.e Bugger all
You might shout that the Union sold us short but I'm guessing you would rather have been paid the Delivery supplement for however many years it has been rather than the alternative of no payment at all for doing D2D's.
I'm also not sure that EVEN people that worked in (sic) office get paid it that didn't even deliver door to doors, but hopefully someone can put us right on that one too!
