Where were the letters? 15 miles delivering farmfoods leaflets and other completely useless shite. Where's the outcry for the environmental damage they do?

Why are we shutting down energy production and farming for this "green agenda" while we post useless s**t nobody wants? If you can't afford to pay your energy bill why the f**k would you want a Chinese takeaway menu?

More bloody bullshit most of these people are managers and £1000 is a fair persuader to them as half would sell their own mother for £50 and s**t on the working man for fun!

So we maybe lose 10? 15? Or maybe a lot more of single day strikes. A lot of money for what? When I’m sure we would lose less if like 1971 and 1987 we went out indefinitely until this was sorted. I’m sure it wouldn’t be long until they were around the table talking.
Come on Tel and Dave, you know it makes sense.

"green agenda"? you mean conserving the environment of the only habitable space available to humans. gotcha.

the thing is with paper is... it's regenerative. it comes from trees. which are subsequently replanted, and contents recycled. the process is self-sustaining when done properly.

now, comparing paper... with industrial farming and fossil fuel production is absolute f*cking nonsense. the scale of the damage to our planet is on such a different level entirely that it's like comparing a glass of water to a lake. it's beyond stupidity.

'when done properly' being the important point. Are all trees that are cut down 'subsequently replanted' and 'contents recycled'?

And when let's say the menu referred to is not required/wanted in the first place, the resources expended in producing and
recycling that leaflet are contributing to the problem aren't they? Better to let the tree continue growing in the first place surely?

Why are people complaining about the use of paper? It keeps us all in a job, would some people rather not work for RM?

when we're talking about environmental issues, discussing exhaustive carbon-intensive coal, oil and gas production (which accounts for over 90% of all carbon emissions) in the same sentence as unwanted D2Ds is just laughable.

look i'm definitely not advocating for needlessly chopping down trees. far from it. but when we're making broad strokes criticisms, let's stick to the facts.

in response to your q's: the logging industry has a responsibility to replant, yes. not just because of underpinning environmental incentives but also its own self-interest: they want to secure future production at a fraction of the cost. it costs much more to acquire new land than it does to systematically regenerate on that which is already owned.

we should be striving to "do things properly" - replant and recycle optimally (approx five life cycles). oil, coal, gas and factory farming cannot be done properly full stop.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
