Re: Strike Cancelled 9/9
The only time the public will be thinking about us tomorrow is when we bang some s**t through their door. I think my door to door this week is for a funeral services provider I kid you not. Deaths are good business at the moment.

Re: Strike Cancelled 9/9
Correct decision, surely, out of respect? It will not be a good look to a large section of the public if they want to post a card of condolence to Buckingham Palace or wherever, with a stamp featuring the Queen's head, but they learn it would have been delayed by striking postal workers. You have to look at the big picture. We can't lose the support from the public that has so far been achieved and give ammunition to the right wing media, who would have a field day if they had the opportunity to portray the union and postal workers in this light.

...and then you stand out on picket lines trying to get public support.....you've got to see remarks like this to believe them.postieblueshirt wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 21:33were a private company the public can think what they like.it means nothing.

Re: Strike Cancelled 9/9
Calling people here 'militant' is unbelievable. Nobody's calling for violence on here.jagger wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 21:13Some of the posts on here are unbelievable.
I’m actually embarrassed with some of people I have to call colleagues.
Not surprised by the likes of Norris, but very surprised by Woody and others.
You do realise that this board is not a cross section of Royal Mail employees? Most have no idea what is really going on. The people on here are more informed and certainly more militant.
Going on strike tomorrow, but calling off the picketing - which is what most people here would have wanted - would not be confrontational. We won't even be in the news tomorrow. You can strike peacefully at home in mourning and let people know. I wouldn't even think the public would expect us to be working tomorrow - it should be a day of mourning and reflection.
If you want to call anyone militant that would be Royal Mail. Confrontational management is how they go about everyday working life.

Re: Strike Cancelled 9/9
the fact is a strike was called most posted mail before the unfortunate thing is the queen has sadly passed rip who wants a letter a pizza leaflet or more crap. what would be better than a day of reflection no pickets or saying the strike is off we 99.9% will be deducted 2 days pay this week even if you turn up tomorrow. i get tomorrow is not a strike but next weeks pay packet will be telling even if you go in if you want to do so it is not a strike. if you don't it is unpaid leave the choice is yours not picking any sides on this one as it is a sad day.

Totally Agree WGWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 20:14The support we have from the public would be lost if we continue to strike tomorrow.
I think you need to start worrying about the support you've just lost from the membership.
Tomorrow will be a s**t show with two days mail because mailcentres network and distribution will now be working tonight.
Members won't forget, the PEC has just undermined the entire dispute.
All you had to do was stand down the picket lines, the public would not have even given a thought to whether they got their mail tomorrow.
Huge mistake made tonight.
I will not be going into work tomorrow and they can stick my days wages up their ass!

Re: Strike Cancelled 9/9
So, please enlighten me and all those on picket lines exactly as to why there ARE picket lines then? Standing outside the gate waving CWU placards and flags etc at people walking past you (THE PUBLIC), passing motorists (THE PUBLIC), I'm afraid you have lost me and many others on here. I'm hoping that your reason for such a naive post is that you have had one too many cans tonight, thinking you'd got a lie in tomorrow. Sleep it off and try again tomorrow.postieblueshirt wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 21:43you think the public care they want there stuff delivered they dont care about us.priority102 wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 21:41...and then you stand out on picket lines trying to get public support.....you've got to see remarks like this to believe them.postieblueshirt wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 21:33were a private company the public can think what they like.it means nothing.![]()

seconded i will look at how life can happen over time and take moments to reflect not just the queen but my life.Dorset Plodder wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 21:50Totally Agree WGWoody Guthrie wrote: ↑08 Sep 2022, 20:14The support we have from the public would be lost if we continue to strike tomorrow.

Huge mistake made tonight.Cancel the Picket Lines but WHY have to go into work? Surely letting all members stay at home and deal with the death of the Queen in their own way would be better than expecting them to pound the streets with an armful of Pizza Hut Households?
