National Terms of Reference for Delivery Preference Trial - Phase 2

Dear Colleague,

Branches will be aware of the trial regarding Delivery Preferences contained within LTB 527/16, which tested the customer appetite for specific products and services listed below:

Any Day Collection from a Customer Service Point,
Chosen Delivery Day,
Chosen Day Delivery Early,
Chosen Day Delivery Evening,
Chosen Delivery Day Sunday,
Early Delivery Every Day,
Evening Delivery Every Day.

These trials concluded that Any Day Collection from a Customer Service Point (enquiry office) and Chosen Delivery Day were the most popular services. As a result we have agreed with Royal Mail to conduct a further trial (phase 2) to assess the market opportunity in the “Any Day Collection” and “Chosen Delivery Day” services.The trials will take place at Battersea, Edinburgh West, Guilford and Livingstone Delivery Offices and will run from 10th July 2017 to 10th December 2017 inclusively.The customer offering will be:

Customers will be able to access these premium delivery services via a website enabling them to purchase subscriptions for a one, two or three month period.

Customers will also have the choice to elect to have all mail held or just non-letterboxable and/or signature mail held.

Delivery services will be booked and processed on a SharePoint for Delivery Offices and Collections Hubs to access the booking information to allocate and plan the service.

In addition to the above it has been agreed that there will be a bespoke D2D produced advertising the new premium services and delivered within the four trial office postcode areas.

As this is a new service the potential take up from customers is unknown at this early stage and it is likely that initially this is likely to be a “slow burn” product in terms of overall volume. Accordingly (and initially) customer preferences will be notified during the Weekly Resourcing Meetings, or daily meetings between the DOM and Local CWU Rep. This approach will be kept under regular joint RM/CWU review involving local, area and divisional parties.

It is confirmed that any data or information gathered for the purposes of the trial is for the purpose of future customer product enhancement only, and therefore will not to be used for any individual conduct or work study purposes.

We have also included within the TOR the full and joint CWU involvement for reps and frontline staff in order to take feedback and ensure that the TOR is followed by both parties any potential roll out beyond the units included in this trial will be subject to further joint National discussion and agreement.

can you tell me why the quiet workers union are still agreeing trials and working with r/m , BUT yet the r/m arent interested in working with the union to sort out the current issues and pay talks etc which should be a priority nothing else , they should not agree with anything until r/m are willing to talk , simple , NO BALLS COMES TO MIND.

totally agree. don't agree to any trials or whatever, FULL STOP. they aren't interested in working on a satisfactory pay/pensions solution so bollox to them. agree NOTHING

Come on then someone in the know - what does all the above mean. Am I right in saying this looks like the end of the USO as people can pick and choose what day they get their mail.

Not the end as they will have to pay for it

But its certainly a small erosion of it under the guise of profit and customer choice.
