RE: MR MARTYN LOW (FATHER OF GEORGE LOW) POSTAL WORKER DARTFORD MPU

Branches may be aware of the recent murder of George Low that took place in Cyprus. George was the 22 year old son of Martyn Low a Postal Worker in Dartford MPU. There are numerous other family members who all work within the same office.

I have received correspondence from Cliff Tucker, Branch Secretary South and East Thames Amal explaining the current position. Martyn is currently in Cyprus in order to facilitate the repatriation of his son’s body and start to make funeral arrangements. It is not clear how long this process will take or the financial implications to the family. It is an extremely difficult time for the whole family and close friends and the unknown burden of the costs should not add to their grief. The local unit will be holding a collection this week and the branch will offer as much support to the family as possible.

The Branch is seeking some additional support and is asking if branches can offer some financial aid to help the family during this terrible time. We are advised that if any branch or individual would wish to make any kind donation of this nature cheques should be made payable to the South & East Thames Amalgamated Branch, care of Cliff Tucker, Branch Secretary, CWU Office, Dartford MPU, 50 West Hill Dartford Kent DA1 1AA. I can advise that CWU HQ will also be making a donation.

I am sure the rest of the union will join me in offering our deepest condolences to Martyn and his family and offer all the support we can.
