I believe this week is the last week of summer resourcing, so what happens next week?

We haven't gone beyond this week in the past but from a brief, very brief, conversation last week with a manager I think that it is going to be extended and perhaps ad infinitum - will discover the extent tomorrow when my week begins.

Summer resourcing was never introduced in our D/O.
We've lapsed a few duties every day since it was supposed to start and that's been it.

Managers have already planned next weeks lapsed duties and it shows no sign of ending any time soon at ours.

Well odd as it may seem the rep is off for the week, the mastermind of the lapsing is also off for the week and the lapsing continues unabated with no apparent sign of stopping. As for resourcing to workload :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle that will be sorted during the weekly resource meeting (even more :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle)

Dingo, could I ask why London didn't support clocking in /out at conference? but you pedal the tracking from PDA's. The scenario from PDA's is far worse that a electronic machine would be on the door
When are HQ going to share some info on the trialled 20 sites, the info I hear is the trials a joke? With no one knowing what to do? :left:

Dvbuk do you have anything good to say? You can't blame the CWU for everything!
Dingo I believe gives valuable information, not that I'm saying I agree with all he says :hmmmm

The members have to take some responsibility on the problems we now face, I have never experienced such selfish individuals in all my times, you can take a horse to water but you can't make it drink!

Regarding resourcing, plans are being created for weeks 23 - 35, the plans I have seen show continued absorption with less overtime being spent than last year. I personally have challenged the plans and they are laughable none sense ! But if someone is coming back 2 hours early you tend to lose the argument, apart from highlighting the obvious!

Decline is being managed! We are in the sh#t!

Obviously I do when there is something good to say but offhand the crap agreements and self serving CWU haven't produced anything good - but rest assured you'll be the first to know. Here's you asking dingo questions and the CWU through a forum don't you seriously believe that that information should be readily available to you as a sub paying member?

In the old days used to start at 5 and be bagged up by 6ish and in the canteen having a roll before we hit the street for delivery. Now we start later, chuck off D2D, could take 30 mins depending how many you have, get called up on IPS for maybe 90 mins. That's 2 hours before you throw a letter in. Some days then with 20 mins MR taken we don't get out of the door till almost 11. So, what used to take us an hour now takes over 4 with lower volumes. Perhaps the volumes are down but productivity is just massively increased. I have no problem with lapsing, absorbing or anything else if I have time left in my duty. I want a full time job. If I don't have time though, they can lapse all they like, I'm not doing it, simple as.
Surely your round is down on volume ... but actually your round is been expanded. More calls

fishtank wrote:RM don't want to end the culture of chasing time, it means that members are constantly working at a far higher rate than they would be otherwise, It's their version of piece work and any suggestion that they want to stop it is utter bollocks. They could stop it overnight by holding members at their place of work until their hours are completed. That's their right as an employer.

The union don't want to end the culture of chasing time because it would be deeply unpopular with those members who still benefit from it, especially in the militant and most vocal areas that seem to do best from this arrangement. To be honest they're pretty powerless to stop it anyway while the business sees it as an overall benefit and a stick to beat the union with over percieved inefficiences.

Spot on

When I started my first delivery had 868 drops an easy figure to remember and you had 2 weeks to deliver a single set of households and a sliding scale for the type so it wasn't really a big earner. Some deliveries had more than 1000 drops now if the mail has fallen so much why are deliveries smaller and take longer?

The decline being reported shows that levels in 2012 were at roughly the same levels as at 1995 -

We are still above traffic levels 1981 - 1994
