LTB 137/16 Urgent - Recruitment - Resourcing to Workload Delivery Offices

Our revision saw 9 p/t made up to full time, to be then told "no sorry, the deal we are giving you now is 5".
Guess who was part of the 9, but didn't quite nudge into the 5?
Guess who is often asked in early to work the f/t shift?

My office has p/t in early consistently, sometimes dependant on D2D, sometimes dependant on f/t annual leave.
Post revision, we have had 3 f/t OPG's leave the job, yet the jobs havnt been filled.

Anybody know any p/t on £30k, before the financial year has even ended? I know both f/t & p/t.

In our office we have a few p/T working full time for the past 2yrs. Now we have been told our overtime is being cut, great! No appreciation for us for working hard the past 2yrs since the revision started, no thank you, just they have got to save money and we are the obvious ones to lose out.

So yeah we finally after how long may get our hours increased to 35hrs or unlikely 39hrs but its an endless cycle of management disagreeing and going higher up etc.

Area rep has been in numerous times the past months and great thanks for telling us they are really pushing royal mail to sort it. But come on, its about time the union just deals with this full stop. I mean 2yrs and not a single review into our hours, money lost when we go on holiday, pro rata bonuses etc, rm have saved enough off us!

I'm fed up of having to chase this matter up and I'm sure every p/t is too.

For the last twenty months every part-timer who has been able to do full-time has been on at least 39 hours every week. In that period 4 full-time and 1 part-time have left, and 1 person has been made up to full-time. The rep doesn't seem remotely bothered about any of this, he usually sides with management on most issues anyway.

2 years Eighteen, yes 18 ft gone all union members replaced with pt with only handful paying subs. Wonder why this statement is suddenly of great importance after years of their neglect.
New office ratio is 70:30, guess which way

Nothing ever happens & its pi$$ing people off big time. Theres more than 10 jobs i know that are vacent & have been for over 6 months but these are not advertised, there just filled by random p/t staff who in some cases have less seniority than many others. When are the CWU going to act?????

Is your rep doing anything? Has he seen this LTB -although tbf said LTB does not need to be seen for reps to do something about s**t piss taking management.

As a consequence of this disregard for national agreements there are units where PT contracts have been employed that have not been agreed or in most cases even discussed with the CWU. In instances like this disagreement should be registered ASAP with a view to reviewing without delay these contracts. This should also apply to existing PT members who are consistently working beyond their contracted hours so that their hours can be reviewed and contractual hours increased accordingly.
This interests me greatly. I'm a part timer (28 hours). I already do alot of morning overtime, and extended on my own walk/packets. Could I realistically build a case to have more hours allocated to my contract? I think my Dom gets around this by rotating the morning overtime around different part timers to try hide it. Do I have to work a certain amount of hours prep / extended before RM looks at me (or anyone in a similar position) and says "they need an extra 5 hours"?

What is the procedure for this?

Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that you will be the one that gets the extra hours in your contract, there is a process for that. However, your rep should be the first port of call.

Not mine, still being sorted. Ive asked the rep every week since and its the same reasons. Waiting from someone higher up, then higher then higher. Ridiculous, don't worry we don't mind losing out on more pay as we have holidays that have come and gone. Also the same goes for the payrise, we don't mind being back paid using our contracted hours and not the hours we have worked over the past months or years.

Nothing happening in our office despite repeated requests to Dom ansd Cwu. Beginning to wonder what is the point of national agreements. Can a standard postie request the review and take it to Stage 1 disagreement ? Cos the union seem scared to rock the boat in my area.

Its an absolute joke. How come its only offices in London where it appears a few p/t have bern made up & nowhere else??
Legally binding agreements my ar$e. Part timers who work full time hours & in many cases, several more hours than the full time 39 hours, are completey taken advantage of. We are treated like a 2nd class workforce in effect because we are losing out everytime we are on holiday or r off sick & we lose out on pro rata bonuses too despite doing everything / working the hours a 'full timer' does.
Not very motivating is it or good for morale. CWU seem powerless or unwilling to make sure these agreements are enforced. You have to question why we should continue paying our subscriptions

Anyone had any progress with this? Still nothing here, really seems pointless. Might as well tell part timers tough, we know you have no choice and you need the money so you can just stick to the contract your given.

Before anyone says just to work your hours, easier said than done. Say I decide to work my hours they will just ask another part timer if they want to and I know of a few who would jump at the opportunity.

Now we have had our hours cut slightly because they need to make savings. So yeah obvious choice just cut our hours. Our rep makes it sound like we should thank him. Don't worry he still gets to work upto 60+ hrs a week. Complains about it that when he goes on hol he loses it. Yeah well at least your get paid 39 or so hours when you go, some of us get paid 20hrs. Great rep, thumbs up. And don't worry I think I know what the rep is going to say as per usual about whats going on "erm its being dealt with, just a few more weeks" hmmm funny I'm sure you said that at the end of last year, well its now July, 7 months on!

Come on seriously. Made to feel like nothing and I don't know how it is in other offices but I wish I had the time like some full timers in our office to go on multiple fag breaks and coffee runs! I'll just catch up on the same amount of work they do and get paid less for it, and still get moaned at that its not done in time. I'm sorry I take it that you guys must be able to do it in the same time.

Apologies for posting this but it is frustrating being told that it is getting there only to know it isn't.

You, the rep/s, the office need to flag it up as much and as many times as possible to your area and Uncle Bob's outdoor dept.
Push push push, and don't give up!
