I can understand the cynism regarding the letter above and am aware of previous concessions the Union has made that i along with others opposed. However the current climate cannot be ignored and no longer do any Union have the power to simply oppose anything that they think their members may dislike. I think the deal above is only but a gesture not only to RM and the Government but to business (business that at the moment we cannot take for granted) to show a willingness to be less rigid than what we have been. I think that the leaders of our Union have a tricky few years ahead - especially the coming weeks and months when the revelations of the Hooper report is disclosed - let us not be blind to the turbulant struggle we will face and that there will be far more important battles to be fought!

Quite true, lets not be blind to reality, but we should also be honest and instead of paying lip service to caring for the delivery officers, and I quote, " 'Royal Mail is using this system to meet financial savings without considering the physical realities of delivery" and then impose a heavier burden smacks a little bit of patronising the membership don't you think.
