Within 2 to 3 years our wage increases will be announced by the government when the minimum wage overtakes what we get paid!
Are you being flippant or is that correct? I was thinking this the other day. At the rate minimum wage is increasing verses our pay rises in recent years, it can't be too long before we're on minimum wage?
That's exactly what Labour supporters voted for.
It's probably not the sort of equality they wanted but that's what we're going to get.
It won't be long until they look at means testing the old age pension.
People who have saved for their retirement will probably lose their old age pension in the spirit of fairness, also Labour may deem it far right ot racist to have a private pension.
I have noticed that since the election my Labour colleagues never talk about politics nowadays.
To be fair though its quite hard being a Labour supporter trying to discuss politics when most print and news media is so right leaning.
Look at the any Daily Mail headline since Labour came in that references Labour/Starmer etc ~ they always frame it in a negative way. If the Tories had done the exact same thing the headlines would more often than not paint it in a positive light.
As for your comments re pensions and being deemed far right . . . To me you almost invalidate anything else you say with silly comments like that.
Elements of the print media are right wing, but nobody reads newspapers anymore anyway. What do you mean by the news media? Labour are in a mess because they told a pack of fibs to get elected. Growth growth growth, cheaper energy bills, smash the people smuglers, no rises in national insurance ect. All broken promises. People have had enough of this government because they're doing very unlabour type things. Did anybody vote Labour to see them strip benefits from old and disabled people? As the Tories found out with immigration and high taxes, if you keep upsetting your base by not offering them anything they'll turn. This is gonna be a one term government unless it sorts itself out.
Mail, Express, Telegraph, Sun, Times ~ id say all right wing, or at least right leaning?
Guardian and Mirror left.
Newspapers still dictate most of what our radio and television phone in shows talk about, and what stories lead news bulletins etc
I agree with you about some of Labours broken promises and its clear they have made many mistakes.
But it is also true that the way Labours actions get reported to us is hugely biased.
Look at this weeks India and USA trade deals and the massive focus on ridiculous things like the NI payment thing?
Imagine if the Conservatives had delivered the EXACT same trade deals ~ the coverage would almost certainly have been incredibly positive. To me, that is very hard to argue with.
